Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday said he'd asked President Trump for a "winter package" consisting of 300 Patriot interceptors to fend off the Kremlin amid Kyiv's war with Russia.
The request follows Trump's approval for Ukraine to manufacture its own interceptors earlier this month. However, Zelensky said the process would take too long.
"We need the Patriots yesterday," Zelensky said in an interview with Axios.
The Ukrainian president remains committed to providing satellite imagery, intelligence or acquiescing to any other ask in exchange for the U.S. defense weapons, according to the outlet.
However, the Trump administration has maintained that its interceptors are being saved for the war in Iran, per Axios's reporting.

Meanwhile, we do not have enough to protect our bases in the middle east. What a total jerk Zelensky is.
Not going to happen
We need all we can get our hands on
How soon do you think you can pay the US back, Z-man?
We build about 600 a year now...but we’re trying to make a deal to do 2000 a year...don’t know for how many years.
He doesn’t need to. Europe is paying for it.
He’s got peanuts for -——.
Isn’t he selling them?
Do they even work?
> Zelensky says he asked Trump for emergency package of Patriot missiles <
And who pays? I suspect that Trump is only the middle man here.
It should read:
Zelensky says he asked the American taxpayer for emergency package of Patriot missiles.
Uh, no. Not our circus. Not our monkeys.
It is the circus of the EU. Go see them, Mr. Zelensky. Once you’ve got some spending money, then come see us.
Piss off Vlad. You've already soaked Western countries for hundreds of billions of dollars. You and your cronies are rich beyond belief. You have sacrificed two generations of your young men to a battlefield you can't win.
Putin has sacrificed an entire generation to a battlefield he can't win. Putin's war treasury is down to pennies paying for this.
Can you guys please stop fighting? Put your pride aside.
You mean those “star wars” missiles that everyone said were a joke? Those Patriot missiles?
Actually, I see this as an opening gambit. We really don’t have the interceptors to spare, at this point, and Raytheon, at least at the point at which it became clear we were burning through interceptors far too fast, likely had not even done a serious study on what it would take to jump production quantities in a big way. (That’s exactly what happened with far easier HIMARS production, early in the Ukraine war. The CBS 60 Minutes interview with the manager of that Raytheon factory literally had me cursing: Raytheon, God help us, had not even considered the possibility, and no one in DOD had thought to ask them.)
A big delivery of Ukie style drones could be put to great effect to smother Iran’s launchers, so, the basis for a horse-trade for a much smaller number of Patriot missiles might be there. Ask for a freezer full of prime cuts, and settle for 10 lbs. of ground beef. After all, it is what Trump would do.
Uh, you’d better take a look at actual deliveries the last few years...
Trump should have countered with an offer of DEEZ NUTS
The United States is facing a severe shortage of Patriot air defense interceptors, which have been heavily depleted during the conflict with Iran. Independent estimates indicate that the U.S. stockpile has plummeted by roughly 65%.
As already said:
AI (Google):
Key Takeaways: Trump Administration & U.S. Munitions Stockpile Concerns
1. Internal Warnings Over Escalation and Munitions Depletion
High-Level Concerns: Vice President J.D. Vance and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine raised explicit concerns to President Donald Trump during White House deliberations regarding the ongoing military campaign in Iran.
Specific Warning on Stockpiles: Gen. Caine specifically warned President Trump that continuing or escalating nightly airstrikes against Iranian targets risked further depleting key U.S. munitions stockpiles—leaving the military vulnerable in potential near-peer conflicts (e.g., in the Indo-Pacific region).
Operational Pause: Following these internal briefings, the U.S. paused nightly bombing raids on Iranian targets after roughly two weeks of continuous strikes, though administration officials reiterated that all military options remain on the table.
2. Extent of Munitions Depletion
According to Pentagon assessments and research by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) cited in CNN’s reporting:
Interceptor & Strike Missiles: The U.S. military has expended significant portions of its critical defensive and offensive missile inventories:
~50% of Patriot air defense interceptor missiles.
~50% of THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) interceptors.
~45% of precision-strike missiles.
~30% of Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Replenishment Timeline: Defense analysts and military experts note that standoff precision weapons like Tomahawk missiles could take one to six years to fully replenish to pre-war inventory levels, given defense supply chain constraints.
You need to get informed. The euros pay US manufacturers for the weapons and the goodies go to Ukraine through the “PURS” program, which the US does not pay for, except for handling delivery logistics. In fact, overall we as a country profit from the sales.
You seem to be accusing Trump of (very) large scale corruption. I suggest you beat a hasty retreat. I also suggest a change of screen name: You are not “Leaning Right”, you’ve fallen off the cliff into the MTG/Tucker/Candace hell-pit.

When a post to me starts with a snarky remark, I simply stop reading.
I try to treat my fellow FReepers with respect, even when they are very wrong. No insults. No condescending remarks. Maybe I’m old fashioned. But I expect the same in return.
Z must be reselling them.
