US stocks dropped on Wednesday as bond yields rose after the Federal Reserve voted to hold rates steady, with three members dissenting and voting for a hike.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) fell more than 1,100 points or 2.2% as oil prices rose amid renewed tensions in the Middle East, and long-dated Treasury yields rose following the Fed decision.
The S&P 500 (^GSPC) dropped 1.5%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) sank about 1.7% as a sell-off in chip stocks continued to deepen.
Markets were digesting the Federal Reserve's decision to hold interest rates steady, with three FOMC members voting against it in favor of a rate hike. The decision marks a pivotal moment for the central bank as inflation remains well above the Fed's 2% target.

This is what could end up costing the GOP control of Congress this fall.
You seem happy.
Deep State ain’t happy with us.
Hopefully we will refuse to knuckle under.
That’s what Deep State is counting on.
2% Inflation is still too high.
A rather flat market for the last few months. Lots of gyrations but holding steady near 52 week highs.
3rd quarter inflation is used to calibrate ss increases. It’s usually the lowest qtr. I wonder why?
Do I understand this correctly? The rate did not change?
How would that be either hawkish or dovish?
You can decern emotions from a text post?!? Am not really “happy” about it....but the Fed does need to raise rates at least 75 basis points. (And the stock market was long overdue for a correction)(overvalued).
Gas/oil pricing is currently an Iran/Hormuz/Bab el-Mandeb/Black Sea/PDJT related thing. (Not a good thing/not at all happy about it).
Only with idiot voters.
“Gas is high. A Republican is President. Vote D.”
And when the Dem raises it higher then what?
Iran with a nuke would send it even higher if there is even gas to buy.
I wonder if voters in WW Eleven were stupid too.
Wall Street needs to be weaned off of investing for rate reductions yes/no and get back to PE ratios, dividends, industry forecasts and the like. And the FED needs to clean up its balance sheet.
If a Trump voter can’t remember Biden’s economy. Illegal alien stampede. Tax increases. Trannie Teachers. Never cutting waste. The fraud. And look at these radical Marxist Muslim Democrats winning, and stay home, I will be surprised.
The Big Beautiful Bill cut 13-15 grand from most all tax filers. Standard deduction s.
I hear a lot of complaints and disappointment. But no one is saying they will stay home or vote Democrat because of their dissatisfaction.
“Wall Street Logic”...lack of an “expected” rate cut (expected by Wall Street pundits) = “hawkish” in their minds.
A 100 basis point increase in the Fed Funds Rate would qualify as “hawkish” in my mind. But to each his own.
On purpose.
Ok, the rates need to be cut and PE is not really that high (25).
Is this more because they may think Kevin Warsh does not have control of his Fed?
The market move is curious. The consensus going in was “no change” with a chance of “0.25 point raise.”
No one was expecting the interest rate to drop.
The rate stayed the same....So why the weird stock market reaction?
This is the Trump economy. People are focusing on today and have to make decisions on what is happening today. Products are shrinking and going up in price. Therefore one has to buy more to make up. Gas and diesel are still high. All becuase of Trump’s actions. Trump is in charge and is responsible for what is going on. Trump is to blame, not Biden.
Someone here mentioned here a few days ago that has to buy twice as many Milkbones for his dogs because they are smaller in size and the box is also smaller.
It is important to remember the past. Some people are still living in the past.
