The Trump administration is ending a key health insurance subsidy program that aimed to keep premiums for seniors' prescription drug plans in check, claiming that it benefits corporate insurance companies, according to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz.
Medicare Part D -- the government health insurance program's prescription drug benefit -- is used by tens of millions of older or disabled beneficiaries.
The program's subsidies are set to expire at the end of the year, the administration announced Tuesday.

The Dems will have field day with that going into the mid-terms. Expect that to be the new talking point of every Democrat candidate and party leader.
They also made it where pharma can’t overcharge us on meds available throughout the rest of the world for cheap. We might come out better as a result. I am enraged at what Medicare costs me now.

This may be true. If so, they need to be out there making explanations and assurances that people’s costs won’t soar.
Nobody does that. meanwhile the media is roaring on about this.
Seniors understand increased costs for prescription drugs and are more than willing to absorb that cost themselves as opposed to pass it on the already stressed taxpayer.
The alternative is to acquiesce to the socialist trend and pretend that you see value in this government payout program. If you later say you were lying, it would be worse.
We’ve heard that the part “B” cost will increase to $218 for 2027. How this part “D” elimination affects that remains to be seen. As a broker, I am happy to see the change. There are still help aides for those that can’t afford their meds.
Trump should have announced a HUGE discount of Part D. Reduce premium to $1.00. That would have gained votes.
Perfect timing to ensure that the Fauci hearing will not be a part of the MSM.

$608.70 per quarter (one-fourth of the federal Part B payout)
That’s one-fifth (there’s a 20% patient co-pay) of the total cost of Medicare Part B items - doctors, injectable drugs, physical therapy, some vaccine shots[flu, pneumonia, Hep B, COVID], outpatient tests, durable medical equipment, home health services[nurse visits].
That means those things cost the government and patients over $12,000/year on average. That seems way too much to me.

Medicare / SS — same idea.
The Trump RX is excellent and prices are lower than Medicare.
I think my wife had/has one of those plans. The benefits from the insurance company keep getting smaller and smaller to the point that they’re almost zero now.
I can see the ads, now:
Paul Ryan wanted to push granny-in-her-wheelchair off the cliff. Trump wants to make her pay more for her prescription drugs.
[It is ridiculous what the insurance companies pay pharmacies compared to what consumers are charged. I compared mine a couple of years ago: Insurance was paying the pharmacy about $12; if had to buy them without insurance the pharmacy would have charged me a little over $120.]
Part D is not going away, but the Medicare Part D Premium Stabilization Demonstration program is going away...
