Poll: Talarico Opens Five-Point Lead over Paxton in Texas Senate Race

Democrat James Talarico leads Republican Ken Paxton by five percentage points in a survey of likely Texas voters released Tuesday, marking a shift from earlier polling that showed the attorney general narrowly ahead or tied in the U.S. Senate contest. Texas Public Opinion Research found Talarico leading Paxton, 45 percent to 40 percent, “marking the Austin state representative’s largest lead in any public poll taken during the general election period,” the Texas Tribune reported.

The group surveyed 1,048 likely voters from July 15 through July 17. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

The survey found Talarico holding a commanding advantage among independents, with less than one-quarter supporting Paxton. Talarico also led among voters without college degrees, a group that has consistently favored Republicans in Texas and nationally.

Paxton received weaker support from Republican voters than he did in other recent surveys. Nearly one in five GOP respondents said they were undecided or planned to support Talarico.

The latest findings mark a shift from several June surveys. A YouGov poll of registered voters dated June 12 showed Paxton leading Talarico, 49 percent to 47 percent.

Maybe, or maybe it’s one more sign of the fall of a once proud nation?

Poll more than likely was Austin centered. I see his signs everywhere in the land of fags and foreigners.

How the hell is a guy that believes there are 6 genders and that God is non-binary and the guy is supposed to be a pastor of some sort, is winning in a place like Texas of all places.... Over the current attorney general of the state?

Yes the same polls had Paxton losing to Cornhole and crowning Beto as the next Senator.

It’s agitprop.

I hope you’re right, but Texas has changed a lot in just the last few years.

My wife refers to Austin as Sante Fe without the view or weather and 10 times more bums.

Reminds me of all that polling that said that Hillary had a “96% chance of winning” in the days before the 2016 election.

Or that poll claiming Kamala Harris was ahead in Iowa days before the election:

“Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll released on November 2, 2024, claimed Kamala Harris led Donald Trump 47% to 44% among likely voters.”

Trump took the state by 13 points.

Not to mention a poll of only 1,048 in a state of 31 million is complete crap. It is not a poll, it is pushed agenda propaganda.

Because this is the dominant narrative:

The hometown boy with down home, Texas values

vs.

Corrupt, career politician

Talarico owns the airwaves, and of course the media is in his back pocket.

Maybe, but this match is very similar to the Ted Cruz/ Beto O’roark senate contest a couple years back.

Cruz is as likeable as Paxton. Beto and Talerico are also very similar.

There was lots of talk before that election that Beto would win.

Cruz won by a couple points.

Is texas trending blue or red. I’m not really sure. in 2020 the answer would have been trending blue. But the hispanic population since then has been shifting red instead of blue as the democrats have gone crazy. Several border congressional districts have shifted red. so right now its hard to say.

The 45% number probably is accurate for Talarico. Let's hope that is the same number he has on election day.

But Paxton has a lot of catching up to do.

I still don’t get how Beta O’Rourke only lost by a few points instead of losing by 20-30%. WTF is happening in TX?

“””Not to mention a poll of only 1,048 in a state of 31 million is complete crap. It is not a poll, it is pushed agenda propaganda.”””

It gets his people exited to think he will win which means more donations.

I tend to call boolshat on these Polls. The Media will camoe in with some sort of a “Late push” for Paxton aor a “surprise disclosure /event” on Talarico.

Having said that, if it came to pass that Talarico wins. we are flat out done... history. The Government will have succeeded in their “Divide and Conquer” goal. We will be as close to a Civil War as any time in history, excluding the actual war.... then, Government will step in and “save” us from ourselves.
