Entries from early 2020 in a now-exposed personal diary kept by Dr. Anthony Fauci during the COVID-19 pandemic show that he privately estimated the death rate from the illness was significantly lower than what he told Congress under oath only weeks later.
Fauci, 85, has come under intense scrutiny for years regarding his approach leading the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic, and his alleged links to the Chinese lab where the virus originated. He will return to Capitol Hill on Wednesday before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to speak about his newly publicized personal records.
"The stated mortality over all of this when you look at all the data including China is about three percent. It first started off as two and three," Fauci said in testimony before the House Oversight Committee on March 11, 2020, according to a transcript of the hearing. ...
"I think if you count all the cases of minimally symptomatic or asymptomatic infection, that probably brings the mortality rate down to somewhere around one percent, which means it is 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu," Fauci continued. "I think that is something that people can get their arms around and understand."
But on Feb. 8, 2020, about a month before that congressional testimony, Fauci expressed privately that he believed the virus's mortality rate was much lower than what he later told lawmakers.
"[Former CDC Director] Tom Frieden called me this AM and we discussed various aspects of the outbreak," Fauci wrote. "He and I are on the same page in thinking tht [sic] this is acting like a bad influenza in its transmissibility and that the denominator is much greater than 34,867 (above) making the case fatality rate (CFR) more like 0.2-0.3 % rather than 2.0%."

Because it WAS a bad influenza (shout out to the "It's just the flu, bros" thread!). Actually, it wasn't even that bad, but was made much worse by the insane "COVID protocols", and the demonization of Ivermectin and other proven treatments.
"COVID" was the biggest lie/fraud/psyop in all of history. And there are hundreds, if not thousands of people who should be in prison for the rest of their miserable, conniving, manipulating lives for their malfeasance and roles in the madness that they caused and/or enabled.
Smart people did, but older people and young people were very frightened by what he put out to the masses. It’s actually evil and manipulative.

sure it’s just a coincidence but as they were pimping high covid deaths, absolutely nobody died of the flu in 2020.

We will never have good stats on covid. Anything about it- deaths, adverse events, the number of useless bodies hired to do useless tasks, the sweetheart deals with manufacturers or the funds funneled to public and private entities.
Only a fraction will ever be exposed.
My state was counting everything, Covid. If someone was killed in a car accident and tested positive, that was a Covid death. Then you had the flu deaths drop to almost zero.

That was one way of counting cases...They also estimated death by covid by the deaths in previous years...any excess was attributed to covid....and if I remember correctly, they did NOT count any normal flu deaths as flu...but as covid.

To put it politely. The GOP was indeed in a tight spot, see above. The nation's top medical officer / "expert" at that time was pushing a program that was tough to crack. And that "shut-down-the-nation program had the support of every anti-MAGA in the country let alone the world.
But it remains in my mind a toss-up with Obama's fraudulent election to the WH. In that event, our party in opposition was paralyzed by the prospects of Hillary in the WH. She had the numbers to prevail if Obama had been rejected by the Congress.
