How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, by JD Vance
The Wall Street Journal ^ | July 23, 2026 5:38 pm ET | Kimberley A. Strassel

His online minions attack me fiercely over last week’s column. They should hear what my kids call me.

Over many years of writing pieces critical of politicians, my Republican targets mostly took the beatings like men, many going so far as to acknowledge—if only in confidence—that they probably deserved it.

Not so Vice President JD Vance, and his dreary band of online enforcers. This egotism—or rather, insecurity—is worth analyzing.

This column reported last week on the bitterness Mr. Vance’s congressional colleagues are feeling over his continual absence. In recent administrations, governing majorities have come to rely on the vice president—who is ex officio Senate president—to act as primary liaison between the White House and Congress. Mr. Vance has blown off this important if unsung duty, preferring to stay in the spotlight. Tempers hit a boil last week when—at a pivotal legislative moment—Mr. Vance canceled a planned Tuesday House meeting in favor of appearing on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” where he bashed Congress.

Republicans have mostly held their tongues on Mr. Vance out of deference. But the vice president has shown a lot of lefty leg lately: undermining Israel, panning free markets, touting a Christian-themed big-government agenda. That’s in addition to what many Republicans view as Mr. Vance’s naive approach to Iran. That elected Republicans were joining conservative commentators in a Vance rethink was worthy of reporting. And most readers would have seen the column for what it was: part of a growing GOP debate over who should lead the party in 2028.

Team Vance saw it as it sees any slight: an all-hands call to delegitimize a critic—to brand her a RINO, “establishment,” a liar, a captive tool, or part of some anti-JD “op.”

The Vance press team contacted my editors to demand corrections...

If Kimberly Strassel managed to make a single valid or accurate point in this article, it has yet to be seen.

Oh Goodie. The WSJ has jumped on the ever increasingly tired old bandwagon of bashing Trump by lamely attacking Vance.

This crap has been going on for over a week now. Isn’t there some other propaganda the media might try? The Vance = Carlson drivel has been debunked as BS.

I don’t need Kimberly Strassell to point out JD Vance’s failings to me. 🙄

The Wall Street Journal is kinda ghey...

Kimberley Strassel is from Oregon, SO the following isn’t too surprising

AI Overview:

Kimberley Strassel has stated that
she personally supports Gay Marriage,
despite holding an overall conservative viewpoint.

How the RINO Establishment is extremely bitter about having lost the Republican Civil War by the WSJ.

Her work suggests she is middle of the road.

Books
Strassel has written four books:

Leaving Women Behind: Modern Families, Outdated Laws (Rowman & Littlefield, 2005) (ISBN 0-7425-4545-8): Strassel and co-authors Celeste Colgan and John C. Goodman argue that government regulation interferes with marketplace initiatives to provide women with economic opportunity.[20]

The Intimidation Game: How the Left Is Silencing Free Speech (Twelve, 2016): Strassel criticizes campaign finance laws, which she contends are used by the left wing to infringe upon free speech and free association rights.[21]

Resistance (At All Costs): How Trump Haters are Breaking America (Twelve, 2019)[22]

The Biden Malaise: How America Bounces Back from Joe Biden’s Dismal Repeat of the Jimmy Carter Years (Twelve, 2023): Strassel argues that Joe Biden, like Jimmy Carter before him, has mired the country in weakness, inflation and political unease.

Didn’t know the VP was supposed to be so closely aligned with the Senate, but if that’s the case, JD certainly could’ve been doing something to help with the Save America Act. God knows John Thune is doing absolutely nothing.

Don’t think JD is ready for prime time.
Also don’t like the WSJ.

Trump says a lot of outrageous stuff but he’s earned it.

The Zionist’s have their knives out for Vance who is seen as not sufficiently sucking up to Israel’s interests enough so they want him out and neocon Rubio in. But in ‘28 younger conservatives who hate Israel will be more influential while the boomer numbers (the only demographic that still supports Israel) continue to decline. So any viable Republican candidate is going to have a tough needle to thread to appease those opposing factions within the GOP. By ‘28 I predict any Zionist friendly presidential candidate will be a loser. Independents and libertarians don’t like Israel anymore either.

Sorry to say it but, a great number of republicans are also souring on JD. The more he speaks, the less ‘republican’ he seems.

He’s no longer my number one for 2028, but it’s not too late for him to turn things around.
