Disapproval of President Donald Trump’s handling of Iran hit a record high in July.
A majority of voters oppose U.S. military action, and nearly two thirds think the conflict will last at least a year.
The latest Fox News survey finds 56% oppose U.S. military action against Iran, including 40% who "strongly" oppose.
More Democrats oppose the war (84%) than Republicans support it (76%).
Voters increasingly expect a long-term commitment. Today, 64% think the war will last a year or more, up 13 percentage points since May. ***
There is also doubt the conflict will produce an agreement. About half think the U.S. will not reach a deal with Iran, while the rest split between expecting a good deal (27%) and a bad one (25%).
Roughly half of Democrats, Republicans and independents predict there will be no agreement with the Islamic Republic. Among those anticipating a deal, Democrats are 20 points more likely to expect a bad one, while Republicans are 27 points more likely to expect a good one.
Just 34% of voters approve of Trump’s handling of Iran, while 66% disapprove, his worst marks to date.
Trump’s overall standing remains steady, but underwater. Thirty-nine percent approve of his job performance, unchanged for the past three months. Sixty-one percent disapprove, tying a previous high. That includes 49% who "strongly" disapprove, matching a record high.
For historical context, Trump's best rating, 49% approve and 49% disapprove, came in April 2020. His current 39% approval is close to former President Joe Biden’s 40% (July 2022) and former President Barack Obama’s 42% (July 2014), during the summer of a midterm election year.***
Trump’s ratings are also underwater on the economy (33% approve, 67% disapprove) and inflation (27-73%). ***

Poll results are based on what voter list you use.
The same people who “oppose” the Iranian conflict, somehow think the Ukrainian conflict has to be supported.
From what I can tell, these polls aren’t voters “believe,” but seem to be a test of the main stream media outlets success of whether their their propaganda war is working.
News flash, it is . . .
I have a feeling that will be the case. Trump’s trademark bombast, which some abhor and some appreciate (I often being one...), hasn’t played well in this case. The enemy has proven to be more resilient and capable than his claims.
Ukraine is covered in corruption, so the deep state, and by extension the MSM supports it.
Iran is just a way of going after Trump.
Iran feels like a tar baby. I don’t have enough information, but from the perspective of a casual observer, it may have been better to degrade Iran’s capacity, then walk away. Those SOBs aren’t going anywhere, and it seems you can’t kill enough of them, kind of like cockroaches. Once Iran has reduced capability, let the Iranian people, or Iran’s neighbors take care of the rest.
Trump’s MOU which flopped badly has much to do with the sinking polls. There should have been a surrender and not a ceasefire..
This case is very different.
The problem is Trump didn’t continue his original strategy of targetting the leadership.
I have no idea why he stopped, but it was a huge mistake.
Bull feathers...
The poll says this is how you will think today.
Sheesh...everyone “opposes war”....that is why we should just GET IT OVER WITH!
Our military must defeat Iran and open the Strait of Hormuz quickly, not only for strategic, but for electoral purposes.
This is the problem. People act like getting it over with is just easy as hell.
It isn’t. Why do people think that?
Probably not true, but it doesn't matter if it is. Destroying Iran's ability to make nuclear weapons is more important than what voters think.
If we pay a political price for this, so be it. The price of doing nothing is far more horrible.
Trump tried, but then they started attacking ships.
Do you think we can leave them alone? Their attacking ships is responsible for the high price of oil here right now.
It's not going to get better if we walk away. It will get far worse.
We must prevent Iran from controlling the Strait, and we must prevent Iran from ever making a nuclear weapon.
And we must do this regardless of the political consequences. This situation calls for leadership in doing the correct thing, and damn the political consequences.
It isn’t. Why do people think that?
Because that's what they want to believe.
“Do you think we can leave them alone? Their attacking ships is responsible for the high price of oil here right now.”
Perhaps we walk away and let the consumers of Iranian oil deal with the firing on vessels and tolls? I realize the world market for oil impacts our prices, but we are a net exporter. Wouldn’t the price that China pays be much more than we pay? Let China, and the Middle East neighbors figure it out.
And, like all mailin ballot scams, whether you even count what was said.
