Newly released bodycam video shows a routine traffic stop involving Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo ending within seconds after the Republican official name-dropped himself and then drove away without a citation for an alleged red-light violation.
The roughly one-minute video shows a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sergeant stopping Lombardo’s pickup truck near Mandalay Bay on May 15 after the officer said the governor failed to come to a complete stop before making a right turn at a red light.
As the officer approaches the passenger-side window, he greets the governor.
“Hello. How you doing, sir?” the sergeant says.
Bodycam shows Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo during Las Vegas traffic stop. Before the officer can finish explaining why he initiated the stop, Lombardo interrupts.
“I’m Joe Lombardo,” the governor says.
“I’m aware,” the sergeant replies before continuing, “For the red light violation back there. Your right turn onto Giles…”
“C’mon, man,” Lombardo responds.
Moments later, the sergeant ends the stop without issuing a citation.
“You’re good to go, sir. Appreciate you. Have a good day.”
The exchange lasts roughly 15 seconds.
Lombardo’s office told Fox News Digital that the governor and his wife were on their way to Harry Reid International Airport when they were briefly stopped by Las Vegas police on May 15 over what the office described as “a question about whether Governor Lombardo had come to a complete stop while turning.”
“Governor Lombardo spoke with the officer, fully complied with all instructions, and was promptly on his way,” the statement said. “He remains grateful for the professionalism of the officer involved and for the service of law enforcement officers across Nevada.”
The governor’s office also disputed any suggestion that Lombardo was attempting to use his position to influence the officer by mentioning his name.

If it was a high trafficked area and he made a rolling stop he should have been ticketed
If it was a sparse area and he made a sorta stop like we all have done I am ok
Just wonder why there was a cop in area
News flash: Cops and politicians are corrupt.
No one is above the law. Just ask Cankles.
The cop didn’t want to make his life any more difficult than it already is.
HE WAS A SHERIFF BEFORE HE WAS GOVERNOR
Who “released” the video?
In general cops don’t give cops tickets , it’s a perk, but it isn’t good optics for sure and hypocritical.
Lombardo gets a warning for a red-light violation.
The Trooper lets him go.
Paul Pelosi also gets a warning after numerous drunk driving incidents. Crashed cars. Hit and run. Leaving the scene. A couple days in ‘jail’.
If I was worth a couple hundred million dollars, I would hire a driver. They would live full-time salaried on my family compound. With health insurance.
A Conservative? Ran a red light? And the left will go bonkers. It’s a crazy crazy world.
It's a tradition of privilege nobody wants to break.
Lombardo is up for reelection. Most people would agree he has done a good job as governor. The democrat running against him is bad news, the attorney general Aaron Ford, who was just endorsed by Newsom (the loser Cali governor in the state next door), and only bragging right is forever blaming Trump for the state’s loss of rights “woes” and the deterioration of our “democracy.” He filed several lawsuits against Trump and the DOJ programs. He’s your typical liberal leftist who’s not in touch with reality. He also didn’t pay his federal income taxes for three different years in the past. Another democrat who will continue to make matters worse in Nevada. So what else is new?
This reminds me of an incident that happened recently . . .

A “California stop” in Nevada.
Non-story. I’m not governor nor do I play one on TV and cops have let me go numerous times because I’m polite and extremely handsome.
No one is above the law but as others said it does depend on what it was for. Was it a rolling or half second stop in a low traffic area? Or something blatantly dangerous and expressing his entitlement? I’ve been let off with several warnings when it’s minor.
extremely handsome.
Same here.

Yup. A minor thing like that is an excuse for them to pull you over. But if they see you aren’t suspended, wanted or defiant you will most likely be on your way.

Very true.
Sometimes it depends on the cops stopping you. Are they rookies, do they have anger issues, etc.
One time a cop car followed me a few blocks from a stop sign, where I pulled up in front of my mother-in-laws home to babysit my daughter. Cops jumped out and accused me of running a stop sign. I got in their faces and told them they made it up, and I'm on my way to a meeting with some police captains at the Hall of Justice. Their rookie faces went white and they left. I worked supporting police for a couple decades, and friendly cops always told me to let them know if I ever had problems with tickets. Young rookie cops can go either way, helpful or rude.
