President Donald Trump on Wednesday blasted New York's new pause on AI data center development, arguing the state is turning away one of the biggest economic opportunities of the AI boom.
"One of the biggest Driving Forces in the Future for Jobs, are Data Centers," Trump wrote on Truth Social, calling the facilities "Money Machines" and "Cash Cows" that generate jobs and tax revenue. He urged New York to reverse course "IMMEDIATELY," arguing companies would instead build projects in states such as Texas, Arizona, Alabama, and Florida.

They need to go up in Detroit, Buffalo and Gary.
Build a data center where the White House ballroom will be. See if he likes the generator hum 24/7 and the arc lights on all night.
A lot of this money being referred to is due to ill-gotten gains though.
When Google or Microsoft or Facebook, or other mainstream companies data mine your computer/phone so that they can send you advertisements on the start menu, they are doing so deceptively.
They steal your data, use what they have learned to then best target you for ads under the rubric of a “personalized experience”.
People can’t get off of big tech fast enough and onto some form of open source like a BSD or Linux on their phones and computers.
What range of jobs are associated with data centers?
What happens to those jobs, and tax revenues when the AI boom becomes a bust?
LOL very few jobs are created with these Datacenters..Goober Trump is all wet on this..
Go back to DU you malignant Commie propaganda whore. How much are you being paid?
How much is China paying you to spread propaganda?
So many negative posts. This has to be a coordinated hit job. It must be organized and you must be one of the people being paid.
LOL well no wish I was but Trump has a narrow view of many things looking at it from an investor view, not employee view.. These DC’s are centrally managed with minimal staff at each location compared to say the creation of the Automobile which required 1000’s of workers to build..
What happens to us when AI booms and we miss the bus?
” See if he likes the generator hum 24/7 and the arc lights on all night.”
I work in a data center. There’s no hum except when backup diesel generators are tested, and the lights on the White House grounds ar always on. This is getting to the chemtrail and GMO stupidity levels.
You can accuse me of distributing propaganda all you like, but the question still stands. AI is either going to be a bubble, that will eventually burst, or worse, these centers will be kept around to feed data to an ever expanding surveillance state. What of these jobs, and additional revenue should the whole thing go belly up?
Agree.
And when there are techs who can revamp the phones computers car and devices of regular people and support them. They will have millions of customers.
We will drive our own cars.
We will live analog and distributed lives.
Not a bad option
So what will all these Customers use to pay for all these services if they are unemployed? Reason I ask is AI hasn’t created all these high paying jobs as in fact it has cut more than created....
People voiced the same sentiments with the advent of the car, then the radio, then TV, then the internet. AI is coming whether you like it or not. If we don't build these data centers, the Chinese will. If China wins the AI battle, then they will control us.
Trump is 100% right on this. I know I've had disagreements with Trump on the Iran War and tariffs, but overall he's been good for the country and he certainly is right on this issue.
Any device connected to the Internet uses the resources of multiple data centers with its OS or firmware, whether open source or not, and regardless of AI. That domain name or destination IP address you might see isn't just a single physical box in some static location.
