Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville argued Sunday that former President Joe Biden’s refusal to drop out of the 2024 election earlier caused lasting damage to his party.
"So, the reason the Democratic Party is in the shape it is, is because Joe Biden wouldn't get out until July the 21st of the election year, alright?" Carville said on his "Politics War Room" podcast. "Had Joe Biden gotten out in October of 2023, we would have a Democratic president. Don't kid yourself."
"And by the way, all the people on the left who say the Democrats don't fight hard enough never said a word about Biden running for re-election," he continued. "Not any of them. They all fell into line."

That’s not Joe Biden’s fault. He wasn’t making any decisions. James Carville should have said that Biden’s mental faculties were gone and that he should’ve resigned.
Carville’s cheese has slid off of the cracker.
No, serpent-head, it is in the shape it is because it is a pack of lying, leftist, anti-American hypocrites.
The mistake of Biden is that the American people got to see how the Democrat Party really operates.
Carville is at least partially right in that Biden should have dropped out earlier. I disagree with his assertion that the Dems had anyone who could have beaten Trump.
Agreed. Well said.
Of course, I don't agree with Carville that some other Democrat candidate would have defeated Republican candidate Donald Trump.
I think they were doomed regardless, which likely explains why the, ah, "Democratic-Soviets" did what they did.
I wonder who he thought could have been the nominee and won?
Well, at least the Democrat jerk is “criticizing” ol’ man Biden.
That’s a shocker.
Hindsight is 20/20. And it always comes long after it could have been of some benefit.
The mistake by the Democrats was that they chose to cheat, finesse, and finagle their way into power in 2020, instead of simply allowing Trump his second term consecutively, immediately after the first. In January 2025 Trump would have been gone, and the Democrats could have moved with relative impunity.
And Kamala Harris would never have been figured in any election.
It’s disingenuous as it gets. They knew Biden was mentally incompetent in 20 when they kept him in the basement during the campaign and he was fine with that as long as they won.
Somewhere, there is an organ grinder plaintively calling out for his monkey Jim.
His “party” has been corrupted long before this. He should acknowledge this fact and abandon the now party of commies. freaks and fags. If we must coexist with such vermin they should have no power at all. They should just mind their own business and live their lives and keep it to themselves . The general public will not go along with their delusions, nor will it approve of their perversions.
If she’s had a longer run, she would have blow through another couple of billions in campaign funds.
...Biden's refusal to drop out... earlier caused lasting damage to his party.
Your fellow socialists say the same thing about your retirement, James.
To Hell with his party! Idiot Joe and his Crime Family inflicted lasting damage to the Country!
The decision to run in the first place.
Are folks underestimating how fired up the black communities are since SCOTUS ruling? They lost their minority districts. Could they have record turnout in midterms? Are we getting out the vote or bickering about bullshit?
Biden was chosen, because they knew only a white guy could beat Trump in 2020.
Why wasn’t Carville calling for Biden to drop out at that time then? It wasn’t until the next Summer that Carville began suggesting that.
