US demands Iran publicly state that Strait of Hormuz is open and Tehran won’t attack ships anymore

The U.S. is demanding that Iran make a public statement saying the Strait of Hormuz is open and that ships crossing the vital corridor won’t be attacked anymore, senior U.S. officials said Friday, adding that internal Tehran power struggles have made it difficult to reach and keep a deal.

The U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe to reporters the state of play with Iran, said the resumption of strikes this week came after what they described as a rogue faction of Iranian hard-liners trying to sabotage the ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.

It comes as U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on social media Friday that he views the interim ceasefire deal as “OVER!” But he said the U.S. would continue talks aimed at putting a permanent end to the war.

The officials said Friday that Trump is giving U.S. negotiators limited time to reach a deal with Iran, but, in a sign of the challenges ahead, they underscored that the president had a wide range of options if talks fall apart.

1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME! Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran - PRAISE BE TO ALLAH! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Trump should demand that they pinky swear they won’t attack anymore ships.

Cross their hearts and hope to die.

Well, Iran didn’t start the bombing, and they claim a right to defend themselves by shutting down the SOH. To the extent that ships cross into Iranian territorial waters, they can claim a right to close those waters. To avoid future conflicts with Iran, the Gulf states can either pay Iran to use Iranian waters, build a pipeline to Oman or Jordan, or build a canal through the Emirates and/or Oman to avoid Iranian waters. That would end the problem but be expensive.

The civilian government would probably jump at the chance to promise the strait is open and they won’t attack. But the civilian government does not control the drones and missiles, the IRGC does. The IRGC has their own agenda and keeping the war going means they don’t lose. The IRGC believes if they keep fighting then, eventually, Trump will give up. Every time Trump announces the war is over, they have to prove him wrong. And each time Trump makes some ill-advised pronouncement, it hurts him politically and increases the chance that the next government will just let the IRGC win to stop the economic and political damage.

If it weren’t so serious, the internal struggle within the Islamic Republic of Iran would be hilarious to watch. Nobody seems to be in a position of unchallenged leadership, and it changes almost from day to day.

Who knew the ayatollahs and the IRGC could play the Keystone Kops so well? Competence does not seem to be their strong suit.

Having no unity of purpose other than chaos is no way to go through life.

Trump is talking to the Iranians in the type of hyperbole that they engage in. Its what they understand. This message is not aimed at you, its aimed at the Iranian regime.

Your inability to see how things work is something you will never overcome. You should do everyone a favor and go back to your safe space at Blue Sky with the others.
