The war in Ukraine is shifting against Putin but he isn’t giving in

For four years, Russia has bet on outlasting Ukraine in a war of attrition. Now, as Kyiv’s drones inflict growing damage on both Russia’s army and oil industry, Moscow is finding out that time isn’t necessarily on its side.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion force is making ever-smaller gains at the front line, its losses exceed recruitment, and it is struggling to adapt to a Ukrainian drone campaign pounding its supply routes to its forward positions.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s stretched army hasn’t buckled as Russia hoped and is even pushing back the invaders in places with small counterattacks. Its increasingly capable armada of drones is causing a fuel crisis in Russian-occupied Crimea and pummeling refineries deep inside Russia.

Russia is pounding Ukraine with ballistic missiles that Ukraine has no defense against. Ukraine is launching devastating attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure as far as Siberia, crippling Russia’s gasoline supplies. Ukraine is also inflicting tremendous loss of life on the Russian side. The front lines are stabilizing. The war continues...and continues...and continues. War usually stinks. It smells especially bad this time.

I wouldn’t say Russia is losing but it is suffering ridiculous losses without a major victory.

Scrappy those Ukrainians!

The hardest part of Putin’s Three Day War has been its first five years.

To be totally objective, ignoring any brickbats about to hit me here, I can see some people have the strong sense of unbending perseverance and determination that I have lacked since my parents divorced in the 3rd grade and I have had a father absent life brought up by a narcissistic alcoholic manhunter mother who is dead now. Unlike these groups below, I tend to compromise, cut my losses and give in.

1)Trump. Ignoring the Dems, the media, the TDS population and the naysayers in his own constituency.

2) Putin. Fight no matter what the criticism or the cost.

3) The regime in Iran, losing decisively militarily but proud defying the US and the world. Continuing to make demands or it will retaliate in the Strait and against everyone else if THEY do not agree to Iran’s demands. Not just throwing in the towel.

Anthony Robbins on being blocked ahead of you as you want to move toward your goal.
Go around. Go over. Tunnel under. Change your approach. Keep going.

Typo.

“manhater” mother. Not “manhunter.”

If Russia can just get through the next 5 years of this war, IT WILL BE ON ITS WAY!

Russia is entering the “fortress belt” that has long been recognized as a slow grind for the Russian advance. This has been known/anticipated for months. I guess the staff at MSM institutions sits around in meetings trying to figure out how to spin the news that their Ukrainian proxies are still losing in different ways.

3 authors on a news article is always suspect. Seems like neither side is clearly winning. Russia looks like it is a lot weaker than anyone thought.

Too bad they didn’t anticipate it years ago.

Hitting Omsk was really something - 1500 miles from Ukraine? As the Russia air defense continues to weaken, the missile strikes on refineries will start to really tell.

I don’t think Ukraine really wants to recapture any territory. They can just stay where they are, and continue to kill the Russians on the front lines. They don’t want to risk their limited manpower on territorial battles.

Make that five years.

Ukraine is having some success with their drones/missiles but what is not being reported is that the Russians are grinding their way into the fortress belt.

Ukraine's army is now depleted and they can't cover the entire front.

The Russians have been able to get the North Koreans to help them out and they have been able to recruit thousands of foreigners from Third World countries.

If Europe is serious, they'll find a way to recruit 100,000 mercenaries. But that won't happen because they're too dependent on America to take care of everything.

Zelensky should have made that deal during the beginning of Trump's second administration.

“They don’t want to risk their limited manpower on territorial battles.”

Yeah, because they all skedaddled to Poland and Germany. There aren’t many left. People voted with their feet. That’s all the Ukes have left, pinprick drone attacks and hoping for a Russian attack on a Nato country.

Bla bla bla.

If these people want to kill each other, fine.

As long as MY MONEY (tax money) isn’t being used for this nonsense war, I can care less:

1.) This war does not make me any wealthier.

2.) This war does not maximize/minimize my personal liberty.

3.) This war in truth (not the make belief they tried to sell us) has no impact om my safety and security. In fact, it has made things WORSE, not better.

I can care less.

If we are no longer squandering our treasure, I don’t care.

We probably still are pumping billions but now just “secretly” in round about ways.

That’s how our government operates. When it was cool to support Ukraine, everyone wanted to be seen with Mr. Z shaking his hand, next to pallets of military hardware going down range, giving big speeches about what they are doing to help. Once it became unpopular, a “secret” stamp gets put on it all, no more pictures, no more speeches, but the money and weapons kept flowing.

I don't know where you get this stuff, none of that is true, here is a photo taken just the other day while Trump was announcing a Patriot factory for Ukraine and publicity was worldwide.

No one knows the losses, both Ukie or Russian. Only one thing is for sure, Vlad isn’t giving up his ethnic Russian Provinces, the Russian Donbass will remain Russian.

Post war analysis will reveal everything. As for now, Ukraine has no path to Victory, if anyone thinks they will somehow recapture Crimea and the Donbass is delusional.
