A Florida lawyer who describes himself as Donald Trump’s boyhood “best friend” is pushing the president to declare a national emergency to enable him to take control of November’s midterms, according to a report.

Peter Ticktin, 80, is a long-time believer in the claim that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from Trump by a vast voter fraud conspiracy told CNN in a new interview that the threat remains real.

The gist on Telegram channels discussing and researching this goes like this: Revealing as an avalanche of data over news cycles, working in the demise of Save America, the resurfacing of Maduro who knows where the bodies are buried on Dominion - Dominion initially created in Venezuela, Tina Peters now free divulging what she knows, the recent nutz elections in LA, etc. This leads to a declaration of a National Emergency with respect to elections, paving the way for EO's with bite, impervious to court challenges. Federal midterms delayed 6-12 months. Up to states to hold their november elections as-is, or postpone along with the federal offices.

An idea that will not fly; it will kill the Trump presidency before the Mid Terms.

This kind of subject is only discussed by leftist agents pretending to be conservatives, just like those patriot front rallies.

Sure.

Indeed. Leaving the sitting Congress in place would allow plenty of time for him to be impeached and for 2/3 of the Senate to vote to convict. Lead pipe cinch that would happen if anything like this was tried

What other stupid ideas does he have?

I’m sure he’s full of them.

That’s what Trump would claim while it will be difficult to prove and NOT accepted publicly, by a big margin, as true. He will wind up losing a majority of GOP in the Senate, get a majority in the House to move for impeachment, and get a majority of GOP in the Senate to agree.

His “intentions” not withstanding it will be the public perception of “what he is actually doing” that will convict him.

I imagine many Dims are cheering Trump’s friend on, just hoping Trump will try that one.

EO’s are not law, they will be subject to judicial review.

Not one person will take the bet that Federal midterms will be delayed 6-12 months.

“EO’s are not law, they will be subject to judicial review.”

EOs are not law. Trump’s EOs will be rescinded on Day One of the next RAT POTUS’ term. The important ones should be codified ASAP, if possible.

I don’t believe there is a friend cheering him on. I think this is story #12,368, to try to hurt Trump…except this one is so bad it’s probably AI generated.

That kind of talk is nonsense.

The midterms? There will be 435 House seats and 33 or 34 Senate seats up for election.

Along with tens of thousands of other people on the ballot running for state and local offices, everything from governorships and state legislative races to city and county councils to county clerks, sheriffs, school board members and myriad other posts.

In elections conducted under state law and run at the county level. The federal elections are the proverbial pimple on the butt of an elephant.

The feds don’t run elections.

We had Presidential elections in 1812, 1864 and 1944.

There is no such thing as a “national emergency”, not in the sense that this idiotic proposal pretends - and if any President ever tried it, he would be in custody in ten minutes.

Are you endorsing the idea the article claims has been put forth? If so you would probably be more at home on a “We Love Lenin!” site than here.

I'm skeptical of this "report", but if it's true the idea should be rejected.

That will be the event that triggers massive levels of political violence in America. No president has ever halted elecctions - not even Lincoln during the real civil war.
