A new Federal Reserve working paper found the record surge in illegal immigration during the Biden administration triggered higher home prices and rents.
The findings arrive as immigration remains a polarizing political issue. Republicans argue former President Joe Biden’s border policies strained housing and public resources, while Democrats say immigration helped ease labor shortages and supported economic growth.
The paper, published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, combines immigration court records with government administrative data to measure how the unprecedented wave of illegal immigration between 2021 and 2024 affected local labor and housing markets.

The paper says that the average house price increase was 22.4% and 30% of that, or 6.6%, was caused by the wave of illegals.

Further increasing the demand for housing is more people living alone,and due in part to the dissolution of family life. The remainder of the increase was also due to leftist policies, specifically housing supply restrictions caused by low-density zoning, environmental regulations, the capital gains tax on sellers, and the war on landlords.
Not to mention groceries, gasoline, homes, education, jobs, healthcare, and every other damn thing that falls out of the gringos’ big pinata.

Well thank you Joe. I own a bunch of homes and sure enough the value on all of them went way up during your term. You’re a corrupt baastud as is your family, but at least you put serious coin in my pocket.
Especially when you consider the high expenses in kicking their illegal butts out of the USA. That helped lead to higher inflation because the gov’t can’t stay within budget. So we have huge rises in costs for everything because Biden couldn’t zip his barn doors.
