A man's hand was cut off in an incident Sunday on the city's north side, according to the Rochester Police Department.
Police said officers responded to the area of Clifford and Joseph avenues around 8:20 p.m. Sunday for a report of a possible stabbing and found a 42-year-old man suffering from an "apparent laceration."
Captain Greg Bello later elaborated, saying officers "arrived to bystanders comforting and performing medical aid to the victim, who sustained a laceration severe enough that it severed his hand from his body."
Bello said officers immediately applied a tourniquet. The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and rushed into surgery. His injuries were no longer considered life-threatening.

The community was appalled at first judging by the comments sections of local media but then someone suggested that this had been done to a person who had been committing sex crimes against kids. No idea if it’s true or not but the public opinion switched from outraged to sort of accepting.
What a weird timeline we live in.
Sounds like the left hand may not have known what the right hand was doing ;-)

The cops have an ID for the suspect, not named publicly, and the suspect is in the wind.
