Labour encourages farmers to swap beef for lentils

Labour is poised to encourage farmers to give up beef production and plant lentils to help combat climate change.

On Wednesday, the Government's long-awaited "farming roadmap" proposed helping landowners switch from high-emission farming – such as cattle – towards "growing oilseeds and pulses" to meet the increased demand for plant-based goods.

"Farmers will play a critical role in delivering this transition by adopting practices that reduce emissions while sustaining productive, commercially viable businesses," the Government said.

The farming roadmap is intended to set out a long-term vision for British agriculture. It is seen as an attempt by the Government to win back support in the countryside after the family farm tax caused widespread rural unrest.

However, farmers criticised the move, saying the land used by cattle would be inappropriate for growing lentils because it was too wet.

Henry Graham, a farmer from Berkshire who has a herd of 400 cattle, said: "The idea of somebody ploughing up pasture to grow lentils is ludicrous."

He added that chemicals used on lentils could not be sprayed near water courses, such as in water meadows, where cattle often grazed.

They’re just trying to have a famine like the Soviet Union and China. All the cool commies have famines from bad agricultural planning. England can too.

Roughly half of agricultural land is not suitable for farming, only for pasture.

Cows are our only domestic livestock that can live on grass.

I hope and pray that UK residents will soon decide that there is one, and only one solution for Labor. How they choose to implement that solution is up to them. Yes, it involves death. Lots of it. Excrement must be flushed. STAT.

And yes, the same solution will be required for the formerly American DemocRAT party.

Beef and chicken contain all essential amino acids.
Lentils are deficient in methionine>>>>liver damage, developmental delays, depression, anxiety, anemia, poor cognition and neurological issues.
Good luck Brits!

Wouldn’t it take more energy to plant, harvest, package, and ship the lentils? Or are these magic lentils?

They should plant rapeseed instea of lentils. More appropriate given what they have let third worlders do to their daughters.

You’re forgetting sheep and goats. Not as tasty, but the same argument applies.

As far as livestock living on grass-Sheep can live on grass alone, if it is all that is available-their nutritional requirements are pretty low-but cattle can’t maintain good health on most pasturage/grass-it does not have enough nutritional value-they require some supplemental feeding. Goats are browsers and need a variety of plants to live and be healthy.

I was raised on a small ranch-lots of goats, a few cows and sheep-we fed some purchased hay and other commercial feed to all livestock, especially in Winter-and when there is not much rain-and not much grass...
