A federal judge on Wednesday permanently barred President Trump’s administration from implementing most of his first executive order on elections, part of which sought to require people to show documentary proof of citizenship when they register to vote.
The ruling by US District Court Judge Denise Casper in Boston effectively converts a preliminary injunction she issued a year ago, in which she temporarily blocked many of Trump’s efforts to overhaul elections, into a permanent ban.
Casper rejected the administration’s argument that the lawsuit to block the changes brought by Democratic state attorneys general was premature because the rules had yet to be implemented.
Instead, she agreed that the Constitution gives states and Congress the authority to regulate elections, and that Trump’s requirements violated the separation of powers.“(The Constitution) does not grant the President any specific powers over elections,” she wrote.
Among other proposed changes, Trump’s order would have required people to provide documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote, prevented mail ballots from being counted if they arrive after Election Day, even if they were postmarked by then, and punished states that failed to comply by withholding certain federal money.

Keep in mind the constitution requires only citizens can vote and somehow this judge gas decided we are not allowed to enforce that requirement.

US District Court Judge Denise Casper needs to be arrested, indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced to a short drop and quick stop for giving aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States.
About that, she is 100% correct.
Can this be appealed to the SCOTUS, or maybe just ignored entirely?
Article 1 Section 4 Clause 1 will be the executioner of the USA unless Congress uses the power granted to it therein to “make or alter” state election laws. The Supreme Court has ruled that federal authority is paramount and can be exercised whoever Congress wants to.
Please someone, tell me why we even have to register, if you don’t need birth cert et al, and you don’t show your Regis card at the polls?
This has bugged me for years in our county. Can’t show id to vote in Maryland! But we have to register? Why?

But it does invest within the Executive the power to enforce constitutional requirements. Only citizens voting in elections is LITERALLY a constitutional requirement, to wit the Executive branch is vested with authority to enforce.
