Far-left surge: Mamdani-backed candidates oust Dem establishment incumbents
FoxNews ^ | 06/24/2026

New York City's socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani did it again.

One year after sending political shock waves across the country with his New York City Democratic primary victory on his way to winning election as mayor of the nation's most populous city, Mamdani tested the limits of his political powers.

And he easily passed the test, upending the Democratic Party establishment as a trio of Mamdani-endorsed far-left congressional candidates won their primaries over more moderate incumbents and rivals.

I have not charted it out, so my perception may be flawed ... but I think the GOP field is being enhanced by candidates who have been supported by Trump. So the GOP leans a bit MAGA, which is nice. Meanwhile, the Democrat field is being seeded with candidates who are openly socialists. So the Democrats lean increasingly radical and anti-American. The mid-terms will be interesting.

Agreed. Not to be underestimated. And the pull is not just confined to NY or “blue cities.”

Centrist Democrats may feel like they have less and less a home.

MAGA is not united the way it was prior to 2024. There are intra-party debates that split the movement.

Establishment Republicans may also feel a bit homeless I’d imagine.

Growing number of Independents mean more varied outcomes. Example: A voter might bubble in a Republican governor, but a Democrat Senator, an Independent local official etc...all on the same ballot.

A larger and larger proportion of the population are fed up with the main parties who promise much but deliver only worsening conditions for ordinary people.

Political scientists talk about a declining "center" but what's really happened is that the "center" has slowly transformed into a corrupt oligarchy: the big players get the gold mine of subsidies and exemptions, while you and I get the shaft of taxes, ever more regulations, mass immigration, "free trade," etc., etc.

Not concerned.

Pockets of socialism in mostly big blue cities —which we know will fail sooner or later—will tarnish donk candidates this Nov. in the other 95% of the country.

Young voters, GenZers and the like have no lived experience of socialism / communism. This will serve as a teaching moment.

Sorry for NYC, Detroit, Seattle, etc. ...sort of ....

Most swing states that decided the election for Trump in 2024...other than Florida, are not solidly Red. They’re purple.

And even in states Trump won, like Michigan and Pennsylvania, Democrat senators and reps won at the same time in areas that went for Trump.

Republican squabbles are minor and temporary: mainly war, high prices.

Horrors, we've lost Carlson Tucker and MTG !!! Whatever to do ?

Now, all the commies have to worry about is where the FREE money will come from to hand to the parasites.

“Escape From New York” has become a documentary.

Their plan has failed everywhere it has been tried.

Productive people want to keep TO THEMSELVES the fruits of their own labor. This is NOT a news flash.

The “less fortunate” often just don’t want to lift a finger to work to earn their own way.

New York is a welfare city. It produces literally nothing. It exists on skimmings from Wall Street, state handouts and Federal handouts

That has cultivated a worsening cycle of leftism, welfare mentality and magic-thinking, which always makes socialism and marxism mean more free shit.

With the left controlling the media and the schools, I see no way to stop the US becoming a socialist country in the coming years. I hope I am wrong.

New York, like all the major American cities (even in "red" states), seems largely comprised of underclass, immigrants, gays, and damaged women. That's how the likes of Mamdani got in. I live in NYC, and it has been Bizarro World for quite some time.

Media and schools can claim credit for our current state of disrepair, but both are ‘sells’, not ‘buys’..

MEDIA: because of Musk/Twitter/X, CNN-CBS Ellison/Bari Weiss, WAPO purchase regretted by Bezos

EDUCATION: DoE being dismantled, returned to states where more school choices are proliferating, more private schools, more home schooling, universities called on carpet.

Media and schools influences are diminishing.
