US Vice President JD Vance pushes back on what he calls an Israeli “freakout” over the recently signed US-Iranian memorandum of understanding in an interview with The New York Times, suggesting Israel relies too much on military force to address its problems, that it should give more “credit” to the US as an ally, and that concerns that the agreement emboldens Iran or its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, are misplaced.
“I find this whole freakout in Israel a little bit odd because I think that it comes from a place of mistrust, and I think that America has earned the trust of that region of the world,” he says. “We’ve done a very good job by that particular country and that particular government, and I think that the idea that we’ve made a terrible deal is not supported by the facts, but just doesn’t make any sense if you consider the broad length of the relationship.”
Vance, who has become the face of the Trump administration’s defense of the MOU, has spoken several times about how the United States needs to pursue its own interests in negotiating with Iran, regardless of whether Israel agrees...
Regarding the deal’s Israeli critics, he adds, “I guess my response to them would be: What is your exact proposal? You’re a country of nine million people. You can’t just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have.” (Israel’s population is roughly 10 million.)
Vance claims that the US “destroyed their nuclear program,” although the text of the MOU refers to Iran’s country’s stockpile of enriched uranium, and says that for now, Iran “will maintain the current status quo of its nuclear program.”

It’s not Israel that’s the problem...It’s the enablers in the US that NEED the worst impulses of every country in the Middle East to “obey” their Armageddon timeline.
Against islamist 12-ers you probably do have to kill your way out. However, I would let him go in unarmed to try.
And you can’t reason with unreasonable people.
But gifts C-17 loads of pallets of Ben Franklins will work.
So Hezbollah firing at Israel is a “security problem” and Israeli’s firing back is a “freak out”.
Vance is not ready for prime time.
The problem is the other side thinks so.
the problem is folks like Vance who seek to protect, appease, enable, and arrange financing for the world’s terrorist regimes and murder gangs like Hezballah.
in the name of whatever “principles” — the result is the same... more terrorist regimes and murder gangs attacking and murdering more and more innocent Christians, Jews, Druze, Hindus and other innocent civilized human beings.
I keep trying to like Vance, and he keeps screwing it up.
He is doing what the big boss wants.
“Vance slams Israeli ‘freakout’ over Iran deal: ‘You can’t just kill your way out of solving’ every security problem”. Just bomb the hell out of them with ham sandwiches.
I’m sorry but he sounds childish and resentful of our ally.
JD likes to run his mouth too much.
He wants to lecture Israel that they should be wiped out without us, so shut up and take it or die. You’re only 9 million people blah blah blah.
There is so much wrong with this.
1 Israel punches WAY over its weight class and he should know that.
2 Israel has been an essential ally including in this conflict.
3 You can’t kill your way to a solution? WTH were we doing unloading everything we had on Iran.
4 Another one of his arguments is that the Gulf States want this deal. Guess they are in charge now.
Sorry but he sounds like an absolute fool.
All he had to say was “This isn’t the final deal and if Iran misbehaves we’ll clobber them”.
He does say that also, but running his mouth detracts from it.
Exactly.
Vance is just parroting what Trump is saying.
Oh puhleeeeeze VP Vance. If you had your family members raped and dismembered and faced bus bombings and rockets and missiles over your head you would change your tune!
This is a death cult we are dealing with.
They want dead Jews end of story and full stop.
They are playing the long game.
Iran is going to stroke this along and shutting down the strait again is just another example of how they will do what they want as long as we allow them to breathe. The entire IRGC needs to be wiped off from the map period.
Get the battle plans ready and go finish the job in Iran. Every vessel that comes from the Iranian shoreline and islands needs to be put to the bottom of the Arabian Gulf! Every building associated with the IRGC needs to be sent a 2000 pound Bomb-a-gram.
Make it so.
“ You can’t just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have.”
Sure you can. It worked well enough in the 1940s. Let’s give it another try.
L
So what would you like to see happen instead, and how many US/Israeli casualties, are you willing to accept to make it so? And should there be a moratorium on gas guzzling vehicles in the meantime.
Hopefully it’ll work out well but I no confidence in the Iranians. If we capitulate while they do what they want, that’s going to be a big problem.
If however, they misbehave, we slap them, and things work out later that’s cool. Off the cuff statements to the press won’t matter at that point.
“You can’t just kill your way out of solving every single national security problem that you have.”
Grant and Sherman solved the problem they were given.
Germany and Japan have become peaceful countries.
Eygpt has learned to live in peace with Israel.
Jordan has learned to live in peace with Israel.
Israel makes lists of naughty people, and delists people.
If you drop a nuclear bomb, then even the Strait of Hormuz will become radioactive.
