Obama Center opens in Chicago with a call to defend democracy and a celebrity crowd (Barf Alert!)

Former President Barack Obama formally opened his presidential center in Chicago on Thursday with a call to defend democracy as three former presidents joined him on stage in an extraordinary event featuring politicians, A-list celebrities, athletes and other internationally known figures.

“I hope this center will serve as an affirmation of just how special, how precious our democracy truly is and remind us what we can achieve when we embrace our shared responsibilities as citizens,” the nation’s first Black president told the crowd.

Bono, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony and Eddie Vedder took turns on the stage ahead of Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder, who closed the show singing “Higher Ground” as the former presidents, world leaders and others danced along.

President Donald Trump was conspicuous both in his physical absence and by not being mentioned by any of the speakers or performers. Trump called the $850 million center a “total disaster” in a social media post in February.

Obama voiced his support for character, honesty, integrity, kindness, compassion and sense of duty, praising both Democrats and Republicans, including those he defeated.

Michelle Obama spoke directly to her husband when she stepped up to the podium. “Eight years in the crucible and not once did you melt in the heat. Not once did you let it harden you.

“Instead, you used it to reveal your truest essence,” she said. “Your stubborn optimism and unflinching courage. Your dazzling brilliance and unpretentious decency. Your ferocious work ethic and absolutely unshakable moral fiber. And to do it all as a first.”

What a crock these grifters gave us.

Horrible humans. No self-awareness about the petty mediocrity they brought to us all.

"...and a celebrity crowd"

Translation, an America-hating crowd.

Another hijacking of terms and institutions, like “gay” and marriage. Sickens me to know people are so stupid.

We are a republic, but most people call us a democracy, for whatever reason.

Of course, it doesn’t help when prominent politicians of both parties constantly call us a democracy. Very few people ever refer to us as a constitutional republic.

Bush and his wife were there, mugging it up, playing along with the insults directed at a real conservative Administration - the failure son of President Reagan’s worst choice never was one of us and now he’s open about it. Lots of talk about the wonderful government spending but how about a few dollars out of the pockets of these wealthy politicians and washed-up Hollywood dilettantes for the minority contractors and subcontractors left with the empty bag for this hellish looking monument?

BO will always be the most devisive president ever. I’m sure many voters thought voting for Obama would salve the racial wounds. It only made them worse. Not one bit of gratitude of the blessings coming from our great Nation. He started all this with his description of the US Constition as a charter of negative liberties*. And it’s been all downhill from there. Everyone has their hand out for their piece of the pie.
*Obama in his interview disparages the Constitution as merely “a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the federal government can’t do to you but doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.” He believes—and he’s right—that changing this is the way to bring about “redistributive change.” US News

Nah. Saw some of the narrcisfest on the news last night. Odd no snipers or massive plot for a drone attack there. And, Joe showed us that his minders were correct. He looked ready to still run the country. Even Stevie wonder could see that. 🕺

Them and their democracy. That democracy that ignored the actual voters choice in 2024 to install Kamala Harris as their candidate.

That democracy, the one that needed massive illegal alien votes, foreign collusion, NGO money funneled into their campaign coffers to buy people and celebs in order to win.

Yep, that democracy.

not once did you melt in the heat

Interesting place to talk about heat, since the Illinois legislature has a proposal to require no work if the temperature exceeds 80 degrees F. In typical fashion, since nobody would be able to work in high temps, no clear definition of who enforces this law. If it passes.

So, the filthy rich Obama get his sheep from their pens to call for some stupid “defend democracy” to a crowd of the filthy rich celebrities. Do these Democrats ever have anything good to say? they should make us all sick. I know they do me daily.

There was video of the event all over tv and the internet. Didn’t notice one American Flag anywhere.

Bill Clinton - hoping for another opportunity to grift
George W. Bush - hoping that the Obamas will like him even more
Joe Biden - just wishing he was back home
