Continuing his remarks about the US agreement with Iran at the G7 summit, US President Donald Trump claims he “never cared about regime change” as a goal in the US-Israeli campaign against Tehran, while reiterating his belief that the elimination of so many senior officials in the Islamic Republic effectively amounts to regime change.
“You talk about regime change. I never cared about regime change. It [was] never a part. But I guess you have regime change because you know better than anybody, the first group, they’re all dead. The second group, they’re dead. A part of the third group is gone,” he says, referring to echelons of the Iranian leadership.
“And we’re dealing with people that I think are very rational people. They were nice to deal with. They were strong people, smart people. I think actually they’re smarter than the first and second group, but they’re not radicalized and they’re, you know, looking to help their country,” he continues.
Trump says, “I don’t believe in regime change. And I’ve watched regime changes for years. They never work. It has to just happen [naturally],” he says.
On the first day of the war in late February, Trump indicated that the goal of the strikes in Iran was to topple the regime, and called on the Iranian people to seize the opportunity to take over their government, telling them “the hour of your freedom is at hand.”
“When we are finished, take over your government. It will be yours to take. This will be probably your only chance for generations,” he said at the time.

Murderers, but strong and smart.
This is either the greatest ruse in history or the West and Israel are screwed.
Praise the Iranians, they do not care.
Criticize ally Israel’s Netanyahu who paved the way for an American attack?
Something is VERY fishy here.
So Maduro in Venezuela doesn't count?
There you have it as Trump just said it so it must be True Iran’s leaders are ‘strong, smart’.... You can’t make this stuff up!
Diplomats are often charming people.
“So Maduro in Venezuela doesn’t count?”
Maduro was replaced by someone from the same regime.
Simply pay no attention to the 40,000 or so brutalized and murdered Iranians.
“Regime change” can mean that we killed the individuals who used to run the place, and now there are new individuals in charge of the old system.
But I think there are people who see “Regime change” as the equivalent of “nation building” — let’s take over their country. Let’s set up a whole new government. Let’s try to change a thousand years of civilization and turn those people into carbon copies of Americans. That stuff doesn’t work. If the media was expecting that sort of “regime change”, they aren’t going to get it, because Trump is too smart to try it.
Wait, wait I wonder if the CIA has gave Trump the Joe Biden effect as he is saying more and more stupid stuff....
“Murderers, but strong and smart.”
Putin, move over.
Maybe this is still about the Iranians themselves affecting regime change. But I guess this still does not occur to a number here.
So it’s still the Maduro Regime?
Looking for my face palm emoji...
Trump reveals his idiocy. I feel sorry for the suffering people of Iran.
Mr. Trump said Israel has been fighting Hezbollah "too long."
"Too many people are being killed, and you don't have to knock down an apartment house every time you're looking for somebody, because there are a lot of people in those apartment houses, and they're not all Hezbollah, that I can tell you, and I suggested to Israel to let Syria take care of Hezbollah, because to be honest with you, I think they'd do a better job of doing it," Mr. Trump said.

He still insisted he and Netanyahu "work great together."
On January 13th of this year, Trump told the Iranian people “to take over your institutions” and “help is on the way”.
I’m sure the IRGC has a list. Any Iranian who took that seriously will pay a heavy price, if they haven’t already.
I get that Trump is miles ahead of the alternative (cackling Kamala). But my goodness. Something went very wrong here.
My guess is that the plan all along was to divide the IRGC into those appearing moderate and those who are radical, and thus promote the fall of the IRCG.
Yep, so much for encouraging a popular uprising to overthrow a maniacal, murderous regime that is the largest sponsor of terrorism in the world…..oh well….
Just what we need,,,,,,a “strong, smart” group of terrorists in charge in Iran…..sigh
