TULSA, Okla. (KOKH) — Authorities say a suspect is recovering after being shot by a store clerk following a threat with a machete.
Around 8 a.m. on Thursday, officers with the Tulsa Police Department responded to a shooting call at Naifeh's Food Mart, located in the 200 block of N. Mohawk Blvd.
When police arrived, they found 61-year-old Donald Lockridge sitting outside the store. They soon realized he was suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip, and he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators learned that Lockridge walked into the store with a machete and started yelling and swinging the weapon.
At one point, police allege Lockridge got behind the counter and started swinging the machete at the clerk.
The clerk was able to leave the store and get a gun from his vehicle.
Authorities say Lockridge initially followed him outside but then went back inside the store.
When the clerk went back inside, Lockridge reportedly tried to attack him with the machete.
That's when police say the clerk shot Lockridge and called 911.
The investigation is still underway.
Officials say they expect Lockridge to be arrested on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon.

Never bring a machete to a gun fight!
Feel good story of the day!
If this were a blue city the clerk would be arrested. He went back in the store when he could have left. This is Oklahoma and the nutcase with the machete really needed to learn a lesson.
1,2,3 riot! He just wanted to axe directions!

Chilled his ass right on down didn’t it.

It’s never a good idea to leave a dangerous situation and return with a firearm. The clerk will be arrested, as stated in the article.
This is why big institutions used to be built to house the insanely dangerous from society. Then the left came.
Not if you come back inside with your weapon, wait until the guy with the machete threatens you with it again, and then fire your weapon.
In addition, Texas allows for defense of personal property.
And since I’d be willing to bet that the clerk is a family member or friend of the owner, I bet the clerk won’t have a problem there, either.

I doubt the clerk will be arrested.
I’ve always refrained from bringing a machete with me when I shop.
What was the gun doing in his car?
It did not fit in his ear?
Likewise! And I own a decent machete. I’ve never swung it around in a threatening manner, either.
My mistake. I thought the clerk was named Lockridge. I am a staunch supporter of 2A rights. In my opinion, a person who leaves and returns with a weapon is not acting in self defense.
A TWO-FER!!
Good question!
If I were a store clerk, I’d darn sure be carrying.
The clerk was responsible for the store and its contents.
Should he have just gotten in his car and driven home?
