If you missed it, Hadi Alodid is the suspect accused of attacking a Scottish man on the streets of Belfast on Sunday night.
The video of the attack quickly went viral, leading to two nights of riots in the city.
Family friends told The Telegraph that Alodid was from a large and politically connected family from the town of Karima.
He was born and partly raised in Saudi Arabia, but returned to Sudan for his education.
Azheri Omer said he had been friends with Alodid since 2022 in the Sudanese capital Khartoum.
He joined the police in Khartoum, but Mr Omer said he only stayed a few months.
In 2023, during a civil war in the country, Alodid and Omer traveled to Libya. Omer got stuck because he didn't have enough money, but Alodid and two of his brothers were able to take a smuggling boat across the Mediterranean, where they made their way to Paris.
They then made their way to the Republic of Ireland (through Dublin) before crossing the open border into Northern Ireland and claiming asylum in the UK.

Quran 47 verse 4
47/Muhammad-4: So, when you meet those who disbelieve, smite their necks until they fall weak.
It's so heart-warming, the way our new neighbors honor and enrich us with the quaint traditions of their far-away homelands.
Decapitation Enthusiast
Rupert Lowe of Restore Britain is interested. He posts about his plans for these kind of invaders at the link....
So what if he was a cop? Or an engineer. Or a violin player.
I guess it matters for curiosity sake. But him being a filthy Muslim monster trumps all that.
Fun fact: In theory at least, the UK still allows ex post facto laws. So this filth can still be executed for his horrific crime. Just past the applicable law.
(Yeah, I know that won’t happen.)
Just shoot him. He’s going to doit again.
The cops do things differently in Sudan.
Winston Churchill was right about islam.
In third world shitholes, cops are gangs of thugs.
I thought that was a rather unusual combination of words, too....
Hunt down the Alodid family and kill them.
