A 19-year-old Indian student who scammed his way into a top US university spoke about his “very structured fraud” in a Reddit post which ultimately led to his downfall. Aryan Anand falsified documents and even faked his father’s death to secure admission at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania on a full scholarship.
His carefully structured scam unravelled after he bragged about it in an anonymous Reddit post. In the confession titled “I have built my life and career on lies and fraud,” Anand revealed how he faked his Class 12 boards degree, his school principal’s email address and his father’s death certificate to study in the US.

After barely passing Class 11, he decided to get serious in Class 12 and even studied hard for two or three days - but soon fell into old habits again. “There was a time in my life when I was just eating, sleeping and watching movies,” he wrote.

“One college, I wouldn't name for obvious reasons, it's a top 25 in the US and a reputed college. I don't know how they accepted me, but gave me a very very good financial aid package which covered almost everything except my meal plan cost,” he wrote.

“I got a marketing intern position at a small insurance firm based in New York,” he wrote on Reddit. “It's remote work, all I have to do is send some emails and sometimes make some phone calls. It's part-time. I do it like 2-3 hrs a day, and most of the time, I just clock in and watch movies or do anything unless there is something assigned to me, and I make around 1500$ a month from it, like 1.2 lakhs in INR,” he said.

The world’s best and brightest from India are so critical to our economy that after Trump imposed the $100,000 fee for H1B visas, only 8 visas were paid for by US companies since Sep 2025. Oh, and they were for Chinese citizens.

Lehigh should be very proud to have been so easily duped. Perhaps the credentials of the admissions officers and scholarship committee are just as bogus as this student’s.

Actually, I’m glad they deported him back to India. Otherwise the U.S. taxpayers would have been stuck footing the bill for his incarceration. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Most foreign students pay out of state rate for tuition. That is why universities love foreign students. A few foreign students qualify for tuition scholarship based on grades achieved at end of first semester. That is exactly how I got tuition scholarship for next 2 semesters.
The university should be fined for not performing their due diligence.
Cut indian students from any scholarships.
Cut all Indian student visas by 1000.
Force the indian government to reimburse the money.
Too bad we let one Indian int the USA.

And now Americans of India origin are the richest community in USA. That did not happen by going on welfare or starting fraud day care centers. It is because education is very high priority in India. The oldest universities in the world began in India.
They are the most educated idiots of the world. Hire one and find out.
By stealing jobs thru the ridiculous H-1B visa.
Why are American companies hiring them if they are unproductive workers. From what I am reading on this forum, IT work is being relegated to H1-B visa workers enmasse. Are American corporations stupid or is it the posters here?
