* Nithya Raman is now in second place in the mayor’s race, with 27.1% of the votes counted so far compared to 26.7% for Spencer Pratt.
* Mail-in ballots will continue to be accepted through Tuesday, but analysts say the trend favors Raman moving into a Nov. 3 runoff with incumbent Karen Bass.
Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman surged past reality television personality Spencer Pratt in the city’s mayoral primary election Sunday, capping off a five-day turnaround after she fell behind Pratt on election night.
Raman now sits in second place with Pratt in third, according to the latest vote count from the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder. Raman had 27.1% of the votes counted so far, and Pratt had 26.7%.
Both are vying to compete in a Nov. 3 runoff against Mayor Karen Bass, who garnered 34.7% of the vote as of Sunday, and whom the Associated Press already determined has qualified for the runoff.
“The odds have shifted dramatically in Raman’s favor,” said Zev Yaroslavsky, a former council member who runs the Los Angeles Initiative at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. “The trend is clear. She has been gaining on Pratt for the last three or four days. There’s no reason to believe that will change. It is still close, but she is at this point more likely to be in the runoff than Pratt is.”
Raman now leads Pratt by 3,113 votes. In the latest update, Raman took in 19,096 votes, with Bass getting the next most at 15,691 and Pratt taking in 8,489.
“We are encouraged by the latest vote count and remain grateful to the thousands of Angelenos who have powered this campaign,” Raman said in a statement issued by her campaign.

Selected not elected. Heard that before.
I guess I am terribly stupid, BUT, HOW COME BASS’S NUMBERS HAVE HARDLY CHANGED...
All those new ballots were for RAMAN?????
The Party's vote manufacturing operation is running on all cylinders now.
As bad as Bass is, she seems like Einstein compared to Raman. Let Raman win the whole thing and finally take LA into the toilet.
And the LA Times reports this like they were telling us today is Monday - nothing unusual, just another Monday.
I would be curious what the vote delta is for all three from Wednesday morning thru today.
Yes...probably 80% of them...which seems to make little sense.

If the sun came up this morning, Democrats are crooked. Check.
Winner! How dare you notice...
Winner! How dare you notice...
Winner! How dare you notice...
The Raman number is certainly out of whack...19,000+
I hope someone is monitoring Raman's communications records. For a candidate that didn't win her own district, she sure came on, courtesy of the US Mail in massive ballot dumps post election day.
Depose her under oath about the matter.
One of the reasons election integrity matters is so that when the office holder hits a rough patch, the voters know it was with their consent. When you steal elections and things hit a rough patch, you hide in compounds with militaristic security squads because you know the voters know.
