Socialist Nithya Raman might be familiar with a phrase widely misattributed to Joseph Stalin: “It’s not the people who vote that count, it’s the people who count the votes.” Not much voting went on in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, so Stalin probably didn’t say that. But the point about counting the vote stands.
On Sunday evening, Raman overtook challenger Spencer Pratt for second place in the race for LA mayor. The trend seems likely to continue. We would like to report the ballots counted thus far as a percentage of the total cast, but unfortunately, we cannot: ballots are still being accepted, if they were postmarked by June 2. So no one knows exactly how many ballots there are, because the number keeps growing. They aren’t being counted at the precinct level, but in a massive, centralized counting facility.
And, of course, they have to get there, first.

“...in a massive, centralized counting facility.”
That is the problem. Here in Florida, votes are counted in the precincts and the number reported to the Supervisor of Elections, an elected office itself.
Poll watchers from all parties are at the precincts to watch the vote tallies, usually from machines, as they are verified. They are actually counted when the votes are cast. The poll worker just writes down the totals from the machine display. Hand counts are done only in instances where the difference is less than 1% of the total.
Disappointed to see that
A corrupt incompetent vs. a radical leftist.
But the corrupt incompetent can easily beat the radical leftist as the primary votes show.
It was never that Bass might lose. It was who could she easily beat in Nov.
Still amazed at the low numbers in a city as large as LA with all the attention the race has gotten.
Communist California should go to year-round voting and cancel Election days and places. That way every vote for an imcompetant, malanthropic, DEI, feminazi, Communist Dictator, can be counted, unburdened by the patriarchal and racist constraints of space and time.
We wuz robbed!
This is how Bass got elected last time.
It’s easier to subtract than add.
Low voter turnout?
Don’t count the votes for Pratt, destroy the ballots.
Or give votes for Pratt to the chick who announced after Pratt got in.
Refuse an audit.
Easy peasy.
