TGI Fridays was a once a powerhouse in the casual dining scene known for its lively atmosphere, happy hours and fan favorite American comfort foods like loaded potato skins, burgers and chicken wings. With over 600 U.S. locations and hundreds more internationally at its peak, TGI Fridays was a globally recognized brand that combined strong operational scale with a fun guest experience.
Now as the 61-year-old chain rebuilds in the wake of its November 2024 bankruptcy, leadership is working to recapture Fridays’ reputation as “the most celebratory, craveable brand in casual dining.”
After years of media coverage about the chain’s financial and operational struggles, Martin said most of the customers who pop in tend to say the same thing: “Well, I didn’t know you guys were even still open.”
As part of a new strategy, Fridays aims to grow from roughly 380 locations globally to more than 1,000 restaurants domestically and internationally by 2030. The plan also targets a rebound toward $2 billion in annual revenue before the next decade begins.
the Dallas-based chain outlined four core priorities aimed at stabilizing the business and reigniting growth.
Fridays hopes to revive its reputation as a true destination for casual dining and fun nights out. That means menu innovations, creative beverage programs and marketing efforts designed to drive traffic and reconnect with longtime fans who drifted away in recent years.
Fridays is also pursuing flexible expansion that allows for asset-light, franchise-led growth across a range of formats, from traditional restaurants to non-traditional venues like airports and hotels. That includes looking at new regions, like Africa, Southeast Asia and the Balkans, alongside key U.S. and U.K. markets.

The food became nothing but salt licks.
I used to like the place. There’s an empty one not far from me. I wish them a lot of luck, casual dining is a crowded space.
And they used to be better than Applebee’s.
Used to one across from the mall. The mall is still alive and well.
I do see that there two locations 97 and 98 miles away .
They just need more flair on their uniforms.
They were never near us. Most were an hour away.

and sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY more often
Used to love them but they lost the touch and all the stores around me closed.
“TGI Fridays rebuilds brand after bankruptcy”
the new management says that it will be renamed “TGI Wednesdays”,but nothing else will change, including the execrable food and execrable service ...
Low quality, but delicious food, made delicious by chemicals. Not the way to MAHA
Is Applebee’s still in business. Haven’t heard that name in years.
I think I ate there once 40 years ago?
“and sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY more often”:
your suggestion to increase HAPPY BIRTHDAY songs more often was well taken by the new, post-bankruptcy, management, which announced that all customers will now each be allowed TWO birthdays: their real one, and an additional one that they can pick out for themselves.
“I think I ate there once 40 years ago?”
i was forced to eat their one time at least 30 years ago, because some idiot co-worker picked that restaurant out for their birthday celebration lunch ... never again ... [not too long after that, that restaurant closed and was eventually bulldozed]

That is the reason I go to the Longhorn instead of Texas Roadhouse. I can NOT stand the STUPID, REDICULOUS, ASSININE, singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALL THE TIME.
Most in my area of middle TN around Nashville closed due to rowdy and jerk customers.
And yes Boo Boo...
Not the Amish.
It was the place to go back in the 1980’s. Fun decor and atmosphere, potent Long Island Ice Teas, and big yummy Onion Ring Blossoms. Haven’t been there in years and years.
