Republican Congressman Tom Kean Jr has not been seen in Washington or his New Jersey hometown for months, but he is expected to easily win his party's backing for re-election on Tuesday, after a recent endorsement from President Donald Trump.
"Tom Kean has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election," Trump wrote on social media, adding, "HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"
Kean is running unopposed so has not needed to campaign with voters. But US media report he also has not been in Congress, and has missed more than 100 votes. He was last seen on 5 March.
His staff said in April that he was dealing with a medical issue. But Kean's continued absence has become a national curiosity in the US.

I looked at some other races on the Green Pages and one was just the opposite. Republican Incumbent Jeff Van Drew with 4 opponents with less than 2 nickels between them. Same with Cory Booker. His Republcian opponents for a Senate race have raised a combined $215,000. They are not going anywhere after with the losers being a triva question, who were the three losers to the winner who faced off against Cory Booker in 2026?
There is nothing irrational about voting for someone who’s been missing for months. He wouldn’t have my vote.

It seems pretty likely that he’s in some kind of substance abuse program or other mental health treatment situation. They don’t let you bring phones into those facilities, which is the only plausible explanation for why he can’t even send messages or photos of himself.
I think the poster did this because it’s news today. President Trump endorsed today. I don’t find it negative. I find it. Just a simple fact I’m not sure what the posters intentions are, but it is what it is.

I pray Mr. Rattler will heed your advice and employ these ERP techniques. Should they not alleviate his stress, he should consider the more proactive remedy you mentioned.
Nothing says DC Swamp like endorsing a candidate who has missed 100 straight votes. But just wait until the next election! We’ll get ‘em then.

If your life is out of control…and you need to go to rehab, I can appreciate that. But he should resign if he is going to miss a quarter of a year’s worth of work.

Kean’s district is a tossup (or slightly worse), Rats smell his blood in the water and they aren’t sparing much expense trying to pick up this seat.
Kean’s health (or whatever) issues aren’t going to help his cause, but if he really does return to Congress soon this should all be forgotten by November.
Even then it’s *still* a tossup, at best.
If he survives past November it may still be his final term. Jersey Rats are all set to attempt a “Virginia” style gerrymander for 2028 and beyond, which means the districts of Kean and Van Drew are on the chopping block. The idea is to create an 11-1 map.
Missing 100 votes is evidence enough that he is not a representing his constituents. An errant congressman is not something worthy of an endorsement.
I can pray for President Trump want what’s best for him what I want in my life Peace, Serenity, Sanity and Sobriety.
I don’t have to believe he’s “perfect” like he claims everything he does is.
I’m not perfect and neither is the POTUS.
It pains me to say this but it is very unlikely Kean is going to win. Democrats have been chipping away at his area and Redistricting actually kept him alive last time around but Somerset and Morris have been sliding to the left Since then.
