The risk of a catastrophic explosion at a damaged chemical tank in Southern California has been eliminated following a close overnight inspection that confirmed a crack in the tank relieved pressure and cooled the chemical, authorities said Monday.
Officials said crews conducted tank temperature checks at night to reduce risks to firefighters, avoiding daytime operations when heat from the tank made conditions around it most dangerous. The overnight mission allowed crews to verify the crack and confirm temperatures were falling, Orange County Fire Authority division chief Craig Covey said Monday morning.
Covey said the results of overnight evaluation of the tank — that the temperature inside had dropped and that pressure had been released — was “incredibly positive news.”

Newsom saves the day!
Glad the people refused to evacuate. Never evacuate when the government asks you to.

Harry Truman would like a word with you.
Where else would he go, he knew it was going to blow, and he didn’t care.
Visited the AP site and an ad come up saying: “AP news, news without an agenda.” I could not stop laughing.
“Risk of a catastrophic explosion has been eliminated at chemical tank in California, authorities say”. I just knew that Gavin’s hair gel was going to save the day.
I remember the network news interviewing that guy and him adamantly stating he would not leave.
I know nothing of volcanoes but even back then I knew enough that if your in the shadow of an angry one it’s time to bug out.
Where I am we get hurricanes, if I had a quarter for every person I’ve ever head state that they didn’t leave before the hurricane hit but they would never do it again I could buy us both a very nice dinner.
Now Bass can go vacation in Africa.
Damn! I like seein’ shizzle get blowed up!
The mountain was Harry’s life, and without it he didn’t see the point of going on anyway.
Maybe not what you nor I would have done, but I respect him for it. RIP Harry!
Never say never.
Sounds like God answered some prayers 🔥💦🕊️.
Make him send the emergency declaration $$$$ back to the taxpayers.
Now Bass can go vacation in Africa.
Garden Frove is not in Los Angeles. It is 12 miles from the nearest border.
Also, I just learned that Los Angeles is the most germandered city I have ever seen. It has an apendage that runs down to San Pedro.
Places like this should be compact and logically designed of the people with common interests.
Harry wanted to die where he had lived his whole life.
He was a nice old guy, and made his choice
That can be extremely stupid advice.
That’s good news. The danger of a full impact, toxic explosion throughout that surrounding community should never have gotten so close, give or take a earthquake.
There should have been a better contingency plan on how to cool things down. Hopefully, this will be an incident that allows us to learn from it, vs burn from it, should there be a repeat disaster.
Now. Let my people go...back to their homes and their cars, that may or may not have been looted.
