Trump 'locked and loaded' if Iran fails to come to an agreement on nuclear weapons, Vance says
Just the News ^ | May 19th, 2026 | By Kevin Killough

Vice President JD Vance said Tuesday that President Donald Trump is still hoping that negotiations with Iran will result in an agreement on ending Tehran's nuclear enrichment program. However, Trump remains "locked and loaded," should the negotiations fails.

"It takes two to tango," Vance said at a raucous White House press briefing in which he was a substitute press secretary. "We are not going to have a deal that allows the Iranians to have a nuclear weapon."

Vance said that he believes the Iranians want to make a deal, and the president has directed diplomacy efforts to negotiation in "good faith."

"And that's exactly what we've done," Vance said.

If that doesn't work, Vance said, the U.S. would restart the military campaign.

I don't believe it. All the bravado so far has come to naught. No wonder the Iranians don't take the US seriously.

Besides, the Hajj runs 5/24 - 5/25 and there'll be no Arab allowance in that period.

In the meantime, Iran is issuing weapons to civilian men, women, and even children. There are AK operations classes being held at schools, parks, and on the TV.

That’s not the action of a country that is contemplating surrender to “the Great Satan.”

It's the action of the citizens not part of the IRGC being told to fight or face being shot on the spot.

If citizens of Iran really cared to take back their country, they would go through the training, pretend to be good little soldiers, then start killing the IRGC in mass all at once.

I tried to compile Trump’s notices on Truth Social since February 28. I gave up.

You would think someone has done this with a plot of how many times he has waffled, extended and promised one thing or anther on Iran.

American Jewish Committee Report
April 14, 2026
The Iran Strikes, Explained:
How We Got Here and What It Means

The United States and Israel launched coordinated military operations against the Iran on Feb 28, 2026. The action, focused on nuclear facilities, military infrastructure, and Iranian leadership.

This followed a “conclusion” reached in Washington and Jerusalem that diplomacy had been exhausted, and that a nuclear-armed Iran posed an unacceptable security threat to the United States, Israel, America’s Arab allies, and global security.

After 40 days of sustained combat, April 8, 2026,
marked the end of the major joint Israeli/US campaign:
<><>aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities,
<><>countering its nuclear and ballistic missile programs,
<><>and reshaping the regional security landscape.

US President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States launched strikes against the Iranian regime, saying “the United States military began major combat operations in Iran” to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime,” and reiterating that Tehran “can never have a nuclear weapon.”

The US operation, “Epic Fury,:” was carried out alongside Israel’s campaign, “Roaring Lion,” which had a different purpose; Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated Israel acted to remove “the existential threat to Israel posed by the terrorist regime in Iran.”

Over the course of the 40-day bombing campaign:
<><>Israel conducted more than 10,800 strikes on over 4,000 Iranian targets
<><>The Israeli Air Force dropped over 18,000 bombs in more than 1,000 waves
<><>The United States carried out approximately 13,000 strikes on Iranian military targets

Targets included:
<><> nuclear facilities,
<><>ballistic missile infrastructure,
<><>air defense systems,
<><>military production sites,
<><>and killing senior Iranian leadership.

Iranian media reported bombs exploding in Tehran, and other key
strategic locations, places tied to Iranian defense and intelligence networks.

Addendum: March 2026 reports indicate the Israeli Mossad played a central role in providing intelligence for a US operation. Mossad worked with the US to “ensure” the success of the strikes. The operation was a culmination of long-term intelligence gathering by Mossad, with US cooperation considered “pivotal.”

Israel claimed its intelligence showed a rapid “acceleration” of Iran’s nuclear weaponization, other reports indicated US intel did not fully match Israel’s assessment, creating a wide gap between the two countries.

Iranians are not Arabs, a distinction not made often enough.

When Persia was converted from Zoroastrianism to Islam, much of the older Magi philosophy was integrated into the basically foreign religion, and the resulting amalgam, Shi’ite, became distinctly different from the original Sunni version, and there have been murderous pogroms carried out by both of the sects against the other in the past thousand years or so.

I hope he wasn’t so influenced by the warm feelings of the prayer day people that he is buying the “love thy neighbor” sentiments. All of them have professional and well armed security details.

In the past Trump called off an attack because his side’s loss wasn’t worth hundreds of Iranian lives.*

In my opinion, nonviolence and love they neighbor enables tyrants to kill innocent people.

Possibly 40,000 dissidents speaking out or in marches in Iran were quickly slaughtered in a matter of less than a week this year. Giving a negotiated settlement rather than demanding unconditional surrender after renewed bombings would dishonor those martyrs and leave new thugs in charge for decades.

All the early Christians faced brutal torture and death and estimates in the tens of thousands were killed for their faith.

Another faith:
The Tibetan Buddhists prayed for peace and were nonviolent as the Chinese invaded, raped hundreds of women, forced women to have half-Chinese offspring so they would be destroyed as an ethnic group and unlikely to fight back against the Communists.
From Wikipedia:
“Tibet’s government-in-exile estimates that up to 1.2 million Tibetans died as a result of the Chinese annexation and subsequent occupation policies between 1949 and 1979. Independent historians and organizations attribute these deaths to executions, combat, imprisonment, and starvation, particularly during the 1959 uprising and the Cultural Revolution.”

Nonviolence doesn’t work and harms people——my opinion.

*”On June 20, 2019, President Donald Trump approved retaliatory military strikes against Iran after Iranian forces shot down a U.S. Navy surveillance drone. He canceled the attack with about 10 minutes to spare, explaining that a retaliatory strike resulting in an estimated 150 casualties was not a proportionate response .”

And that was the running gag in The Money Pit with Tom Hanks.
Conned again and again with broken promises by plumbers, carpenters, construction bosses and the rest.

Iran has no interest in surrendering at least not on the terms Trump is demanding. It will be a huge mistake ramping this war back up but considering Trump’s ego I expect him to do just that. Let’s just hope this doesn’t wind up turning into WW3.
