n a move that's left progressive D.C. absolutely reeling, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro just announced that if your little angel is out running wild in one of those charming "teen takeover" thingies that have been terrorizing our nation's capital, you - yes, you, the parent - are going to face consequences.
VIDEO AT LINK........
Parents, do your job. Or we will do ours.
As Pirro says, taxpayers shouldn't have to keep footing the bill for what she calls "parental neglect."
Breathe it in, folks, this is what sanity smells like! For those of you unaware, "teen takeovers" are those delightful gatherings where large groups of youths make trouble.
From CBS News:
Teen takeovers have become a frequent nuisance in Washington, D.C., particularly in popular parts of the city like the Navy Yard waterfront. At times, these flash mob-style gatherings involving large groups of teens have escalated, prompting D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to impose a series of juvenile curfews in the Navy Yard area of 11 p.m. for those under the age of 18.
But here's the kicker: Pirro's office can't directly prosecute the teens for curfew violations (that's a local matter). So instead, they're going after the adults using D.C. statute 22-811, nabbing parents for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Parents could receive up to six months in jail. Also, fines. And parenting classes.
Radical stuff, right? Holding parents accountable!
So imagine that: A prosecutor who thinks the solution to unchecked teen chaos isn't more "community engagement programs" or "investment in youth," but basic parental supervision.
What a concept!

She has much to learn. Maybe too much.
Yeah, said the Pam Bondi of Atty. generals. Charge and then convict, then get back to me.
The parent (singular) is living off the taxpayers.
And what happens to repeat offenders? Does the single mother go to prison? What about her younger children?
Sounds OK on the surface, but how many times has some level of government overruled parental authority? If the government can diminish parental rights in favor of politics (e.g., Trans in schools), then parents may not have the necessary authority over children.
RE: Does the single mother go to prison? What about her younger children?
Maybe “the village” can raise those children. Hillary and her comrades would welcome the State raising the children to be Marxist-Leninists.
Sorry, but that is a bridge too far.
Think of the sob stories of moms and dads who tried but couldn’t keep their kids from going out after the government enforced curfew.
Or West Side Story style young couples who meet in love as the authorities don’t approve of them being outside as the sun goes down and curfew approaches.
Better to err on the side of freedom and see if the actual crimes can be subject to enforcement.
Some offspring are beyond control.
Maybe stretching it a little but remember Augustine's mother Saint Monica of Hippo who suffered frustration and prayed and pleaded with her son to turn away from his 40 long years of sexual and other debauchery to no avail.
Then he turned to God. Became a Saint.
His Confessions has been in continuous print for over 1,600 years with millions of copies sold around the world.
Good old Merle Haggard. Thanks.
I got caught by Pirro’s curfew
when I parked and drank some beer.
Mama warned me Pirro’s boys were comin’ near,
but I just boozed it up without fear.
Now I’m headin’ to the hoosegow
and know it’s not mama’s fault
and she’s the only one to shed a tear.
The k*teens* should still be charged as adults.
They know good and well what they’re doing and they know they won’t be held accountable because of their age so they flagrantly violate the law.
It’s not because of their age, it’s because of the race card.
“Presupposes the parents have any control at all.”
I guarantee you that our parents knew exactly where we were at any time of day or night. If walking to/from school, they’d even know which house we’d be walking by at a certain time.
I missed the bus for first grade once because my friend and I were collecting horse chestnuts. Dad had the town cop pick me up and drive me to school. There was a tight leash. And I don’t regret or resent that at all.
“Does the single mother go to prison?
Yes.
“What about her younger children?”
Obviously, she’s a bad parent, so it’s better that she doesn’t raise her younger children.
“Some offspring are beyond control.”
Emancipate them, then walk away. I had a boss who did that, and his life went from being a little corner of Hell to calm and peaceful.
If they’re old enough to be out and about on their own, they’re old enough to be emancipated.
Then they become someone else’s little corner of hell.
That’s right.
I’m surprised at the resistance to this concept here. Time to make the parents accountable. They need to learn there are consequences for their inaction.
If the single big ghetto mamas know they will be held to account, they’ll get off the phone and TV and start throwing their weight around with their kids. They may even get the father involved.
Same here. But expecting the same from people who reject civilization is unrealistic.
News flash: Many of these teens are being raised by their grandmother, not their mother.
