Confirmed Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Surpasses 200 Suspected Infections
Breitbart ^ | 5-15-26 | John Hayward

The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a statement on Friday that attributed 246 suspected infections and 65 deaths to a new Ebola outbreak in the remote Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Africa CDC said it was convening an emergency meeting with health officials from the DRC, Uganda, South Sudan, and other global partners to coordinate a response to the outbreak, including cross-border surveillance of the possible spread of the deadly disease.

The statement said most of the infections to date have been reported from two areas within the Ituri province, Mongwalu and Rwampara. Four of the reported fatalities have been laboratory-confirmed Ebola cases.

“Suspected cases have also been reported in Bunia, pending confirmation,” the statement added. Bunia is the capital city of Ituri province, a fast-growing commercial hub with a population of almost 700,000 people.

“Africa CDC is concerned about the risk of further spread due to the urban context of Bunia and Rwampara, intense population movement, mining-related mobility in Mongwalu,” the statement said.

Awww, you're no fun. Remember, all cultures are equal. They're just doing their traditions.

Next we’ll be hearing about a new supervirus that came from both diseases we’ve been hearing so much about mutated together (randomly, of course).

Hantabola, or Ebolanta....or something.

You get the idea.

Heard they are rushing all the sick people from the Congo to the US as we speak. (Kidding-—I hope.)

But not bats to be eaten, I think it was bat droppings on fruit that was unwashed, IIRC..........

The big outbreak in Mende country (Guinea, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Liberia) was driven by handling dead bodies.

The funeral custom of passing the remains from person to person with songs and prayers (which is re-enacted in the movie Amistad) turned out to be deadly.

The ethnic boundary explained where the spread stopped.

The flareups in DRC don’t seem to have the ability to spread like the 2014 West Africa event, probably because they don’t have the same kind of tradition with their dead.

It was not simple at all for guys in body suits and respirators to go into villages and convince the people that something no one could see could bring down healthy strong men, it took a while to slow it down.

BRAVE AI:

The specific natural reservoir (source vector) for Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is not definitively confirmed, but African fruit bats (specifically from the Pteropodidae family) are considered the highly likely candidate reservoir.

Primary Suspect:

African fruit bats have been identified as the most probable natural host, as they carry the virus without showing clinical signs of disease, and spillover events often involve direct contact with bats or their excretions.

Intermediate Hosts:

Infection in humans frequently occurs through zoonotic spillover from infected animals such as chimpanzees, gorillas, and forest antelopes, which become infected after interacting with the bat reservoir.

Transmission:

The virus spreads to humans through contact with blood, bodily fluids, or bushmeat from these infected animals, and subsequently spreads human-to-human through direct contact with symptomatic patients or their deceased bodies.

Exactly what I was thinking. “The Hantavirus isn’t taking off like we’d expect, QUICK! Let’s get some Ebola people in here! Can we take them to LAX and grand central station in NYC?”

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Quarantine the sick. Protect the vulnerable. Hang the guilty. Free everyone else.

We’ve already lived through an Obola outbreak here, so I’m not too worried about Ebola, especially since eating/screwing monkeys isn’t really a thing here (yet).

Having done cobalt, gold, and oil exploration/exploitation in the DRC, it’s likely bats. More specificity their droppings. They fly and crap all over everything like birds do. If it lands on your garden or food plots and you handle said food even if it is cooked one touch to an eye, nose , or mouth without hospital grade disinfectants is a transmission event. Then every subsequent person that person touches or is touched by while symptomatic who then touches those same places is a second generation case and so on.

Late stage Ebola is airborne, the two nurse’s in DFW proves that with zero doubt they were behind full what they thought was effective PPE with gowns, gloves, face shields and N95 masks. Both caught it via airborne droplets to the eyes or past the N95 masks the eyes is what was settled on droplets drifted behind the face shield and landed in a naked eye they were not in full face sealed P100 or greater masks which is what is now the PPE standard for face to face Ebola contacts in the active hemorrhagic stage.

I knew Nina she was a regular at a place in Lakewood right near the hospital with the Ebola cluster in 2014. We all knew her it’s a small place under 50 people fit in it. On not weekend nights you know every single person there by name.
