US President Donald Trump has indicated that an agreement with China for 200 Boeing commercial aircraft could rise to 750, if the planemaker does a “good job”.
President Trump was speaking to reporters on Air Force One as he left China following an official state visit to meet with President Xi in Beijing.
The US president first announced that he had secured an order from China for 200 Boeing aircraft on May 14, 2026, but his latest comments went much further.
Speaking on May 15, 2026, President Trump said: “We made a lot of great trade deals, including over 200 planes from Boeing with a promise of 750 planes, which will be by far the largest order ever if they do a good job with the 200, which I’m sure they will.”
President Trump also confirmed to journalists that GE Aerospace would manufacture the engines used to power the aircraft.
“So, it’s approximately 400–450 engines and 200 planes and a promise of up to 750 if they do a good job,” Trump added.
Previous reports in May 2025 had suggested that China could order as many as 500 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, along with around 100 widebody jets, including 787 Dreamliners and 777X aircraft.
President Trump did not confirm which aircraft types are part of any agreement, and Boeing has not officially commented so far.

Why does strengthening an avowed enemy seem like a good idea?
How does the purchasing of Boeing commercial products strengthen the chicoms ather than the domestic manufacturing of one of our own defense contractors?
So now the Chicoms get the "knowledge"
This is a very bad deal
Trump outsmarted here
At my age I luckily done't get to see it
Grand kids will have to pick up the slack.
Because we like giving away our tech advances to be used against us eventually.
I guess I see hundreds of large jet aircraft as an asset that will generally benefit China. I don’t trust them one bit. My immediate thought, for whatever reason, was that they could ultimately become a military asset, converted from passenger jets to cargo, etc. Could be 100% wrong. Of course, manufacturing these planes here in the U.S. is fantastic. I just want them staying here, or going to our trusted allies (and who those might be is of question these days!)
Another not so good Trump idea...
Lets hope he sends them some nice catapult drawings
The only good news is that the Russians will get the plans and use the design to hurl back at Ukraine.
But the Boeing C-Suite won't care, because they will have already cashed out their stock options and bonuses.
Globalism in a nutshell: short-term profit by our elites that strengthens our enemies and effectively loots the US of its tech and jobs.
You can't possibly be so naive as to think that China won't demand significant tech transfer and local manufacturing for much of those sales.
Whatever happened to that big, beautiful plane that Trump ordered in his first admin? It has been years and nothing. Instead the gift from the Arabs is almost ready to go.
Boeing doing a great job? Won’t hold my breath.
Boeing says it’s the Secret Service and military that’s the problem. They keep adding stuff and you just cant put stuff on a plane just any old where. Every addition is a major redesign of parts of the aircraft..............
It’s about time they purchased stuff from us. Lord knows we buy plenty of their stuff.
One 777 equals all the Dollar Trees and a couple of WalMarts............
I am having some doubts about whether Trump really gets China.
I would love to know who advised him on this “deal”.
And so far it worked. You can’t always just leave weapons and other equipment behind in a disgraceful rout.
I am waiting for the 4D chess comment.
Are you honestly trying to equate cargo containers of TEMU crap with aircraft?
