Given that we spent over a trillion dollars in Iraq and maybe more in Afghanistan, and Joe Biden left $50 billion in equipment in the latter, the idea that you would spend less than $30 billion and have a chance to overthrow the worst government in the world—one that’s caused most of the problems we’ve had in the Middle East—is a bargain, if it works, and I think it will, argues Victor Davis Hanson on today’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.”

They weigh the Iran conflict, calling the reported $29 billion cost a “bargain” if it topples the regime, and describe regional allies’ limited military commitment and the risks of prolonged negotiations.
Hanson rejects a New York Times op-ed claim that Israelis used “dog rape” against Palestinian prisoners as implausible and sourced from anti-Israel channels, contrasting it with documented Hamas atrocities.
They criticize Pope Leo XIV for honoring Iran’s Vatican ambassador, cover JD Vance’s task force uncovering major healthcare fraud and also review Rand Paul’s COVID-origin investigation implicating U.S. funding routes to Wuhan.

Hanson does a good job. He is about my age, I think about six months younger.
I admire the intense work ethic which has defined his life. He is incredibly productive. He has great insight.
I think he has not given enough credit to the ability of the ideologically unified media to shape events in the United States from 1940 through 1994. Otherwise a great voice of reason and clear thinking.
Both cynics and optimists (Victor Hanson in this case) can go a bit overboard in trying to prove their point...The reality is somewhere in the middle.
....and cuts it off.
The media became unified during Roosevelt because they were, as you said, ideologically unified.
During WWII that were unified since they had no choice but to back a wartime President (that they agreed with).
That they stayed that way, during the 50’s and 60’s, and the public didn’t care created the monster that we saw in the 70’s thru the 90’s.
Maybe YT and Rumble can give a voice to the right a voice that has been muffled.
That they stayed that way, during the 50’s and 60’s, and the public didn’t care created the monster that we saw in the 70’s thru the 90’s.
Television became the dominant media in the 50’s an 60’s.
The Progressive ideology became anti-American as the globalist and communist flavors became dominant in American Progressivism, as old Pro-American Progressives died off in the 50’s and 60’s. They were always strong parts of Progressivism.
The Progressive American Media is how we lost the Vietnam war. They were the Communist “fifth column” in the USA. It did not help that Johnson was a Progressive himself, and he and his cabinet enforced their stupid “progressive” ideology of war fighting.
Thanks texas booster.
Trump Goes to China Having the Upper Hand, Leaves With Hat in Hand.
Islamic regimes tend to be stable . Most of its people want to believe in Islam. What happened in Iran is unprecedented. Islamic nations have all kinds of problems but revolts against Islam itself was not one of them until in Iran it was.
Ideological revolutions have a tendency to spread. After the successful American Revolution it's ideals spread into Europe and toppled long standing kingdoms there .
The very best outcome is not only Iran becoming a secular Republic, but having that success spread into the Islamic World .
29 billion to start the fire that burns down one of the most evil mind plagues that has ever infected the World is an incredible bargain for the future of Mankind .
