“When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden Administration, and on that score, he was 100% correct,”

Trump did not point to a specific comment made by Xi. But the post comes after his Chinese counterpart, in opening remarks at a U.S.-China bilateral meeting, questioned if the two nations could overcome the “Thucydides Trap” — a theory suggesting that when a rising power threatens to displace an established one, a war could result.
Xi in 2021 also said, “The East is rising and the West is declining.” The White House did not clarify the quote referenced in Trump’s post in response to The Hill’s request for comment.

Trump's constant glazing and ass kissing Xi was nauseating, as was his simpy, beta body-language and s**t eating grin. An embarrassment to himself and America.
Don’t sell that scum oil either
Teachers unions controlling public schools.
We should have absolutely nothing to do with the Chinese
I tend to see China more like the Soviet Union in the 1980s. It’s not clear when the end will come, but you kind of know that the end is coming. Their economy, their aging population, their social unrest — none of this stuff is good for their longterm survival.
We have issues as well, but I do not see the US having nay actual existential issues.
Do you have an all-time favorite president?
The Chinese Communist Party are equal to or worst than the democrats plus the 2 of them are probably working together and anyone advising Trump to be nice to the Chinese should be watched very closely
Washington, Jefferson, Jackson. Believe it or not, Kennedy is really looking more and more brilliant as history/time passes.
I should get flamed for writing that, but being honest.
Good question.
I beg to differ. Divide our nation’s $39 trillion debt by 163 million working Americans, and it comes to about $240,000 per worker. That means a married couple today has a $480,000 mortgage to pay off — and no home to show for it. And unlike a normal mortgage, the balance on this one always goes UP as you make payments.
Our government has been flooding the country with immigrants for years because you’d have to be living in a Third World sh!t-hole to think this is a good deal.
I think Trump knows that America is still the rising power, and as much as Xi wants to believe, China is on the decline, economically and demographically.
The elephant is in the room. It must be dealt with.
Trump is dealing with it, in a very Chinese way, flattery, “act the damned fool,” all smiles and everything, and then at the right moment, turn the tables. Sun Tzu would approve.
China is not ascendant. They are on the way down. Due to one-child policy of the 70s and 80s, they don’t have enough young folk to field an effective army. They’ve got lots of ships and planes, but they’ve also got a real estate bubble and a youth rebellion, hold too much American debt, have too sparse a domestic economy, are too dependant on exports to the west. That is one fragile, porcelaine elephant in the room.
So be patient. Trump is. In the end, America will have the last laugh.
I wouldn’t have a stroke over this trip. The truth is the US is in decline compared to what it was before Xi took over China. So from his perspective it is an honest comment. Also don’t take it as a threat about war. The Chinese people love America - they fight hard to come here and are 99% successfull contributors to our economy and culture, not like most of the rest.
If we’re going to have an honest debate on FR, like in the “olden days”, we sincerely need to ask is the US in decline. Honest answer - yes. 1 year of Trump doesn’t change that overall. Then we have to ask what is causing the decline. Answer? Answer is clearly cultural rot. And if we don’t get that fixed asap, we will be in a Thucydides Trap. No way around that.
So we have Xi and Trump at least acknowleding that and both apparently wanting to avoid it ending in a war. Best solution is for the US to fix the cultural rot and remain on top. But not sure the majority of Americans care anymore.
You thought so too? Guess we don’t understand the art of the deal or 4D chess or has it moved to some other unknown dimension?
A lot of what I see coming out of this visit makes me wonder if Trump is working for any of US anymore. On that subject, here is one on the price of beef, it isn’t going down and the Administration will do nothing about it but could. A neighbor just sold a steer this week, 750 lbs for $3,000 and 24 small calves for $32,000. Even he, a producer, was shocked and said it was stupid money. We know nothing of moderation or a fair price for anything. Beef demand is still up so we don’t know how to say no either.
https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/beef-tariffs-are-doing-what-theyre-supposed-to-do/
How can tariffs not make consumer prices go up but removing them can make prices go down? The Administration says that is so. Shaboom!
Xi lecturing Trump on China being the new Athens and America the broke ass Sparta was the cherry on top of this entire humiliation ritual
5D chess... even Sun Tzu, lol. While he okays 500k students and massive farmland purchases.
Thanks, good choices. I agree with you about Kennedy, by the way.
well, we agree he is acting the damn fool. I’d love to see some of this 4d chess I hear about
Not a fan of the students or the farmland purchases. It would have to be one hell of a “table-turning” to make that alright. But I’ll trust Orange Man Great to know when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em. For now.
Trump is trying to buy time to get the country on the right footing - producing its own drugs, rare earth metals, manufacturing, supply lines, etc., areas where the previous administrations have sold out the American people.
He has already successfully isolated China in oil production and China does need our soybeans to feed their hogs. Half the world’s hogs are in China.
You beat me to it. Every time Trump says or does something that betrays the nationalist worldview and base that got him elected, the bleating sheep here will just say that he's playing 8 or 10 dimensional chess that mere mortals like you and I simply can't fathom. Talk about a cult of personality.
