New poll indicates around half of right-wing voters see losing elections as 'upsetting but manageable,' while only negligible percentage of left-wing voters will respect results not in their favor.
Ahead of the expected elections in about six months, data from the "Israeli Society Index" for May 2026 reveals deep ideological gaps regarding the rules of the democratic game.
The index examined how Israelis would respond if the political side they support loses the elections, and the results point to a severe crisis of trust, especially on the left side of the political map.
The data shows that as voters move further left on the political scale, their ability to accept defeat declines significantly.
Among the left-wing camp, no less than 81% of respondents defined an election loss as an "intolerable" event, while virtually none declared that they would respect any decision by the public.

I believe the left has won a lot of elections fraudulently .
Some of the most radical people on the left probably believe that they’re ideas are mainstream.
I can’t find it, but I believe Clarence Thomas a quote to the affect that “Some people don’t believe they should ever lose an argument.”

That’s a good quote (if we can find it) but I think it only explains part of the problem.
If we look at left-to-right or authoritarian-to-libertarian scales it is obvious that politics means much more to leftist/authoritarians whereas people on the right/libertarian side of the political divide see politics more as an intrusion into their daily lives. Unfortunately when the leftists take over politics become so all encompassing that we on the right side have to defend ourselves.

They would love to have a pure democracy, and thus get to exert mob rule, but for one problem. They aren’t in the majority in almost any issue. The closes the marxists get to a majority is that more and more people seem to embrace the concepts of wealth distribution and entitlement mentality.
Other than that, they are more than happy to cheat to get their way. They think they are smarter than all the dumb oafs out there.
Recently I’ve seen discussion of the division between Hardcore Leftists and Liberals.
The Hardcore Left wants Class Warfare, Worker ownership of the Means of Production and Redistribution of Wealth.
The Liberals want transsexuals in women’s sports, amnesty for illegals, jail for Trump, etc.
The Hardcore Left wants The Revolution.
The Liberals want to feel morally superior to other people. They like to be smug.
It’s 80/20 politics and the Liberals are fully embracing the nutty ideas that 20% of the population supports.
The Hardcore leftists understand that you cannot win The Revolution this way.
But we are heading toward a situation where more and more people would like to see redistribution of wealth and a Universal Basic Income. These are not good ideas, but they are common areas for the Left. If the Left drops the nutty ideas and goes full force for redistribution, they might actually get traction.
Agree. I think it’s a sizable majority of elections are won by fraud. There is no way those lunatics are half this country. I live in a blue state and most people outside of the crummy cities are normal.
Losing an election is a repudiation of their virtue. Losing an election is to them Evil.
