Today marks the birthday of Karl Marx, the 19th-century philosopher and economist widely regarded as the founder of communism.
His ideas, which were most famously laid out in The Communist Manifesto in 1848, have long been controversial in the United States, where communism has historically been met with deep suspicion and sometimes outright suppression.
However, despite its rarity, there are several openly affiliated Communist Party members in public office.
Newsweek compiled a list of U.S. politicians who identify as Communists today.
Why It Matters For much of the 20th century, communism in the United States was treated not just as a political belief but as a perceived threat to national security.
During the Red Scare and Cold War, communist affiliation could lead to blacklisting or even imprisonment, and laws such as the Smith Act were used to target Communist Party leaders and members. Those pressures effectively removed the Communist Party USA from electoral politics for decades.

And?
My shocked face.
🙄
All democrats are communists at heart.
Where’s the list?
Senator Joseph McCarthy Feb 9, 1950 Wheeling WV speech : “I have here in my hand a list of 205—a list of names that were made known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Communist Party and who nevertheless are still working and shaping policy in the State Department”.
“The Manchurian Candidate” (1962)
Sen. John Yerkes Iselin: [addressing the Senate] There are exactly 57 card-carrying members of the Communist Party in the Department of Defense at this time!
Sen. John Yerkes Iselin: I am United States Senator John Yerkes Iselin, and I have here a list of two hundred seven persons who are known by the Secretary of Defense as being members of the Communist Party!
We need to keep these few around. Rush used to say that when liberalism was finally overcome we should keep two or three leftists to put in museums/zoos so that everyone won’t forget what we were fighting against.
Three names? NY, ME, and MA; makes sense. But more than 100 muslims were elected to municipal offices during the last elections. And silence from far left Newsweek.
I think author Suzanne Blake is VASTLY understating the power and influence of communist sympathizers and government officials in the United States.
It is explicitly illegal under the Constitution of the United States and Federal law to advocate for the overthrow of the government.
Both Communism and Islam advocate the overthrow of our Constitutional Representative Republic form of government.
This is already illegal under Federal Statutes as one must swear allegiance to the country to undertake any state office. “To Support and Defend the Constitution of the United States” is boilerplate text for any US office.
A vile man. Not just his philosophy, but as an individual as well.
Thomas Sowell had his number.

Events of Communist history are closer than they appear:
Video-—Hundreds of communists waving hammer and sickle flags march down a street in downtown Philadelphia on the Forth of July calling for class warfare ..
Like the genocidal class warfare of communists against their fellow countrymen world wide that has murdered tens of millions of people in the last hundred years. https://x.com/i/status/1817731127672779239
They are all Collectivists. Which means they are Socialists. And Communists. And Nazis.
The ONLY thing in that whole article of any interest was the list of names, and you couldn’t be bothered to put it in your “excerpt?”
THAT is CLICK_BAIT wrote large.
Scratch a Democrat and you’ll find a fascist.
“the Democratic Party’s policies—centralized government control, suppression of free speech, and collectivist economics—”
Are Democrat Socialists communists?
