Two U.S. Navy destroyers, the USS Truxtun and USS Mason, successfully fought their way through the Strait of Hormuz after repelling a massive coordinated barrage of Iranian missiles, drones, and fast-attack boats.
Two U.S. Navy destroyers successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday despite coming under a heavy, coordinated Iranian assault involving small boats, missiles, and drones, CBS News reported on Tuesday.
The USS Truxtun (DDG-103) and USS Mason (DDG-87) entered the Persian Gulf while facing what defense officials described as a “sustained barrage.” The ships were supported by U.S. fighter aircraft and AH-64 Apache helicopters, which helped neutralize incoming threats. Neither American vessel was hit.
According to Pentagon officials who spoke to CBS on condition of anonymity, Iran deployed fast-attack small boats, cruise missiles, and swarms of drones in a deliberate attempt to challenge the U.S. passage.

Hegseth maintains the cease-fire is still in place.
According to Hegseth, it is a mostly peaceful ceasefire.
This is likely a taunting measure to get them to show their launch sites.
Doesn’t matter what administration it is. Seems like we are allergic to what needs to be done to get said involvement done and over with. Just do what needs to be done to finish it off.
and the US response will be what?

I really wish we had a way to find out what the conditions are on the ground. Are all these weapons (boats, missiles, drones) being launched/deployed from mobile assets?
Shouldn’t we have systems for detecting, tracking, and retaliating against launch sites and ports?
I feel like we are long since past the days where we couldn’t use real-time remote sensing in a conflict.
Should have been the second sentence in the article.
I don’t see that this would be an example of it being broken. We made a maneuver that wasn’t in violation of the cease fire. They attempted to stop us from making that maneuver. They were unsuccessful in stopping us. And according to the reporting, the maneuver is complete and the counter attack is ceased.
I’m not saying there aren’t other examples of the cease fire being violated but this isn’t one of them.
Do you drop a nuke when you are bothered by fruit flies?
You take out the shore batteries and blow up the little boats.
It won’t take too many days to deplete those arms. I would find out what port those boats come from and make it difficult to launch anything from there. It doesn’t have to be a carpet bomb. But if you take out a few piers and warehouses…things will get harder to supply and launch.
This part of the war is like a boa constrictor. Every time they make a move, we squeeze a little more air out of them.
If this isn’t a gulf of Tonkin incident, I don’t know what is!
In essence, we again defeated them and humiliated them, in their own backyard.
“According to Pentagon officials who spoke to CBS on condition of anonymity...”
Since I see nothing at any other REPUTABLE site about this my money’s on the whole thing is bullshit made up by cbs to cast doubt and turn public opinion against President.
Let me know when a source we’ve actually heard of is reporting it.
and yet nothing was damaged and the ships successfully went through. Heck if it were me I would have never done the bogus “cease fire” I would have just bombed their asses and told Israel to kill every single Iranian Govt official from top to bottom
I agree, you don't know what one is.
Iran keeps trying the small but massive attack strategy. It will, I suppose, occasionally work. But witness Israel; attacked repeatedly by the thousands, and what, a few dozen civilians (often arabs) murdered.
bruh
The point to dwell on, at this very moment, is: The utter bravery and military skill of our sailors and airmen!
Once that’s done we can move on to what “the regime” deserves for its naked aggression and illegality.
Time to finish the job.
Approximately 10–12% of Iran’s population lives in the city of Tehran (~9 million), with the metropolitan area holding over 15–16 million, or roughly 18-20% of the country’s population. Tehran province, which includes the city and surrounding areas, accounts for approximately 29% of Iran’s gross domestic product (GDP) and is the most industrialized province. Value rich target boys.
