I live in central Texas and responded to a Craigslist ad for a treadmill around 12 years ago. The seller explained he was from Rhodesia (then Zimbabwe) and that he and his wife were trying to just get the hell out of that country because of the anti-white violence that had been threatened. The man was granted asylum to the U.S. while his wife was granted asylum to New Zealand. He said the first country that would allow them both is where they would choose to live.
As he said, the blacks in Zimbabwe gave white homeowners a choice - flee with the clothes on their backs or die. Why he was trying to sell a $400 treadmill (covered in white dog hair) while fleeing doesn’t make sense but it’s Craigslist and you learn never to ask too many questions. I paid him $175 cash and loaded it onto my pickup truck. Good sturdy treadmill - not a toy. I enjoyed it and then sold it to my niece when I moved to Panama.
I’ve never met a South African, White or otherwise, who wasn’t a jerk.
Will Rogers never met a South African (or Afrikan, if you prefer).
