In the wake of a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision that curtailed states’ ability to prohibit so-called “conversion therapy” outright, Colorado lawmakers are advancing a bill to deter the practice through civil liability rather than direct bans.
The proposal, House Bill 26-1322, would allow people who say they were subjected to conversion therapy to sue licensed mental health providers, as well as those who employ or supervise them, with no statute of limitations, according to the bill’s text. Lawmakers say that change reflects the reality that many survivors do not come forward until years, sometimes decades, after the harm.
The bill is both a response to and a test of the Supreme Court’s March 31 Chiles v. Salazar ruling, which found that talk therapy is protected speech under the First Amendment.

Anyone think this will apply to children who desist from their “transgender identity” after the physical damage has been done?
I find it disgusting that encouraging someone to behave according to their self-evident humanity is called conversion therapy, but following the delusions impacting them from social media contagion affirms their gender.
It’s not HARMFUL!
That is Rape!
They are trying to ban rape therapy!!!
Government school “conversion therapy” of normal kids to perverts is good, but “conversion therapy” of pervert-converted kids to normal is bad.
As a lawyer I fully expect this will be shot down as well as SCOTUS does not take kindly to end runs.
For starters it is ridiculous not to have some type of statute of limitations except perhaps in special cases like rape.
Moreover I expect zero therapists will stop serving customers - they are already subject to malpractice claims and this adds nothing.
Ergo this is purely performative, like all the California gun laws that get shot down.
Its only harmful to the LGBTQXYZLMNOP “community” because it takes new hookups out of circulation...
