There are now three United States Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carriers operating in the U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility. CENTCOM confirmed in a post on X on Thursday afternoon that the 10th and final Nimitz-class supercarrier, the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77), has entered the Indian Ocean.

CVN-77 joins the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), which is now in the Arabian Sea, and the U.S. Navy's newest and largest supercarrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78), operating in the Red Sea after transiting the Suez Canal from the Mediterranean.

Judging from similar past scenarios, Trump will soon be actively employing these carriers.

USS Tripoli (LHA-7) ARG includes
New Orleans, San Diego and ~3,500 Marines:

CENTCOM's AOR (Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf, Red Sea, etc.) forces now include three Carrier Strike Groups (CSGs) -- Lincoln, Ford & Bush -- plus two Marine Amphibious Readiness Group (ARG) carriers: Tripoli and Boxer.

Tripoli and Boxer are each equivalent to any carrier the Chinese or Brits now deploy and, when combined with Lincoln, Ford & Bush constitute a combined strike force more capable than the entire world's navies' carriers combined.

Tripoli's ARG includes:
Above -- USS New Orleans (LPD-18) with ARG; Below -- USS San Diego (LPD-22):

It’s like my dad said about when to invest in the stock market: “The time to get in is now!”

That New Orleans is a fine looking ship. Unlike its greasy scow sister the LPH Nawlins.

They’re not even in the Gulf of Oman. No chance they will enter Persian Gulf after what happened to the Moskva.

President Trump, unlike President Theodore Roosevelt, talks loudly. Like his predecessor, Trump has a big stick, three of them in fact.

They don't need to. They can hit from a long way off.

MCB, the sinking of Moskva may not have impacted you, but some others at FR, including This Guy, were genuinely sad to see such a dignified vessel go down, and to hear of deaths among the crew.

Moskva was one of three in the Slava class of Soviet-era cruisers.

Sister ships: Moskva, flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, and Varyag, flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet.

Marshal Ustinov, laid down in 1978, was launched in April 1982 and commissioned in 1986.

The Marshal Ustinov visited the Norfolk Naval Base in July, 1989.

Was This Guy there to see it?

😁👍👍

Soviet Warships in Port for a Taste of U.S. Hospitality
L.A. Times Archives
July 22, 1989 12 AM PT

From the Washington Post
NORFOLK, Va. — With the American flag snapping atop its mainmast, the guided-missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov, flanked by two smaller Soviet warships, sailed Friday into the home port of the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet on a good-will mission that will give 1,000 Soviet sailors a five-day taste of Virginia hospitality.

“Peace has got to start somewhere,” said Todd Oiesen, a 19-year-old fireman aboard the vessel Harry E. Yarnell, who swapped a white seaman’s cap and a can of Coca-Cola for two colorful pins from a young Soviet sailor.

Oops:

Here’s the full identifying information regarding the Slava class, penned before the Moskva sunk.

“Three Slava-class cruisers, the flagships of the Northern, Pacific, and Black Sea Fleets, have joined together for what is probably the first time ever. Marshal Ustinov of the Russian Northern Fleet, has deployed to the Mediterranean in apparent coordination with her sisters Moskva, flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, and Varyag, flagship of the Russian Pacific Fleet.”

Yes.

Trump ostensibly speaks loudly.

Ultimately, however, Trump displays the virtue of meekness (obvious power under complete control).

The Big Stick being also (obviously), or still, an essential part of the equation!
