Police in Fairfax County, Virginia, confirmed Thursday that they found former Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax dead in his home in an apparent murder-suicide.
“I’m here to confirm the identity of our shooter in this murder-suicide that happened several hours ago as former Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said in a press conference Thursday morning. “Fairfax shot and killed his wife inside of their home and then shot and killed himself.”
“This has been an ongoing domestic dispute surrounding what seems to be a complicated or messy divorce,” he added.
Fairfax reportedly shot and killed his wife in the basement, then went to his bedroom and shot and killed himself. The former lieutenant governor had accused his wife of assaulting him in January, but when police investigated, they found that “the alleged assault never occurred,” the chief explained.

Also weird is that a Lt. Gov. named Fairfax was found dead in Fairfax county.

Hey, I put “governor” into the FR search so how was I to know there would be an article about this without the word GOVERNOR in the title?
It was probably why the marriage ended that was the reason, like potentially going to jail.

The murderer had served as Lt. Governor to Northam as Governor, who had appeared either in blackface or a Klan uniform in his 1984 medical school yearbook - as he was a liberal Dem, this created almost no stir in VA. Anyway, Fairfax had been accused of sexual misconduct by two women while Lt. Governor but since he was a Dem, no further action was taken. Perhaps if he had been subject to prosecution, the ex-Mrs. Fairfax would be alive today.
That was another Broward County scandal. The one I was thinking of was just a murder of a vice mayor by her hubby, "Coral Springs vice mayor allegedly shot by husband, body wrapped in garbage bags, affidavit reveals."
And Fairfax was the name of the Lee Marvin character in Mel Gibson's Payback. That can't be coincidence.
Sad that he took someone else’s life while self medicating for being a democrat.

This is shaping up to be a repeat of the Ralph Northam / Justin Fairfax / Mark Herring situation in 2019.Northam was mid-term in 2019 when a college yearbook photo showed either him or the person next to him wearing blackface at a costume party. The other person was dressed in a KKK costume. Northam denied that he was either of the people in the photo, after admitting that he was one of the people in the photo the day before.
Calls for Northam to resign began, including from his Attorney General Mark Herring and the state's Senator Tim Kaine. However, a few days after calling on Northam to resign, Herring himself was forced to admit that he, too, dressed in blackface while in college. This shocked the Virginia Democrats, and they at first were frozen in inaction regarding how to react to both the Governor and Attorney General admitting that they wore blackface in college.
While these scandals were brewing, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax was preparing for Northam to resign and ascending to the Governor's position when he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman, Vanessa C. Tyson, an associate professor at Scripps College and fellow at Stanford University, a hotel at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Fairfax denied the sexual assault, but not the sex. He said it was conventual and that he was being targeted as a black man about to become Governor of Virginia.
However, five days later a second woman came forward, Meredith Watson, claiming that Fairfax raped her in 2000 when they were both students at Duke University. Calls for Fairfax to resign began.
Now, this is where the hardball Democrat Party politics came into play. The line of succession in Virginia is Governor -> Lt. Governor -> Attorney General -> Speaker of the House. At the time, the Speaker was Kirk Cox, a Republican. If Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, and Mark Herring all resigned over these scandals, a Republican would become Governor just as the 2020 primary season was beginning. This was unacceptable.
Therefore, nobody resigned, everybody toughed it out, and nobody took responsibility for anything. Northam was term-limited, Herring ran for reelection and lost to Republican challenger Jason Miyares, and Fairfax ran for Governor and lost to Terry McAuliffe.

It was telling at the time that Northam didn’t resign, as if they knew this guy would have been a disaster if he took his place.
Just like in California, it was okay to ignore racism and rape if it meant keeping a Republican from high office.
