Newly released footage shows the moment a gunman fired shots inside Pauls Valley High School, before being stopped by the school’s principal.
The footage from April 7, 2026, shows suspect Victor Hawkins walking into the school and pointing his gun at two students.
An affidavit outlines that Hawkins walked into the school, pointed his gun and yelled for everyone to “get on the ground.” Two students are seen on footage running away from Hawkins as he enters the school’s lobby.
Principal Kirk Moore is then seen rushing towards the gunman and tackling him. While stopping the gunman, Moore was shot in the leg.
Footage then shows another staff member removing the gun from Hawkins’ hand.
Investigators said Hawkinds told them that at 2 p.m. on the day of the shooting, he decided to go to Pauls Valley High School with the intent of killing students, faculty and himself.
Suspect Victor Hawkins told investigators he wanted to conduct his own school shooting “like the Columbine shooters,” and “kill the school’s principal.”

Oklahoma principal shot in leg is praised for tackling school shooter: ‘He is a hero’

Time to rebuild the state mental institutions
I favor giving competent and qualified school officials quick access to firearms.
But that gets some folks (mainly liberals) all worked up. So how about this? Give those officials quick access to non-lethal alternatives: like police-grade pepper spray or the Byrna pistol.
Or maybe even allow those officials to discretely carry them. Because it’s not Eisenhower’s America any more.
God bless him!!!
The Principal (60 plus year old) dive tackled the gunman! The young gunman went down in an instant. Apparently, he was not expecting to have anyone come charging to him. Their was no resistance, at least not in the short video.
Good for the Principal, that when he had the gunman held down and still, another school employee rushed out and took over for the Principal, who was shot in the leg during this take down. A big act of bravery for both men, the Principal and the school employee who rushed to assist him.
No pics of the shooter Victor Hawkings available for now.
My respect goes to that Principal. Former footballer, or an eternal Marine? Maybe both?
A brave man who instantly saw an opportunity, a need, and acted.
Many would be paralyzed into doing nothing. A man of action, to be sure.
I find it interesting it took a week for this to go viral on the Internet.
To hell with that. There is a better lasting solution.
ALL ABLE BODIED MEN:
ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY RUSH THE SHOOTER!!!
He’ll get one or two of you, but the rest of you will properly beat him to death and save thr most lives.
This is what we men do! Protect the innocent women and children!
Principal Kirk Moore is a man of courage and should be honored for his actions, as should the person who disarmed the downed shooter.
This should like something Trump should publicly honor.
I hope Moore’s Governor, State Legislature, and School Board honor this man of courage and conviction.
All able men should carry a firearm.
I don’t mean for those who commit the crime. But to prevent the lunatics from being out there in the first place
Good on the principal but why were the doors unlocked to allow the POS to come in?
People like this POS don’t deserve to be incarcerated in a mental institution, they need to be exterminated on the spot. No trial, he was caught on camera. Kill him and and that sends the right message.
Agreed. I’m thinking of all the future lunatics that weren’t crowding our communities until after the asylums were torn down.
I own a Byrna and I love it, but I would not use it against someone with a real firearm.
