Although ICE has celebrated going after “the worst of the worst criminals” in Ohio, the vast majority of people taken into custody had no criminal conviction – less than 7% of arrestees during the heightened enforcement surge in mid-December had a criminal record, according to the Deportation Data Project (DDP) data analyzed by The Dispatch. The DDP collects immigration data from lawsuits and publishes the datasets publicly.

Hey, Anna - just because someone doesn’t have a conviction on their record doesn’t mean they aren’t a criminal.
Funny! They got illegals, which included pretty bad ones.
All illegals are illegal.
“the vast majority of people taken into custody had no criminal conviction –“
I imagine Anna was crying when she wrote this
Did they break American law by coming into the country illegally?
Then they are criminals who deserve to be rounded up and deported.
Thank you!
It’s all about the spin.
They mention that most of the people arrested had no criminal background (Sort of a lie since all of them broke the law to be here illegally). Only 7% had criminal history other than illegally being or staying in the US.
So about 1/16 of those arrested should be considered a THREAT to the United States and it’s Citizens. The journ-o-lists is concerned about the 16 people who were illegal, but didn’t immediately represent a threat to US Citizens. I am concerned about the US citizens and not the 16 people that have broken our laws already.
Different perspectives. They don’t care about Americans, just people who break our laws.
What data are you looking at, Anna? In 2025, crime rates in the U.S. saw a significant decline including murders dropping more than 20%. Even your beloved NPR ascribes that, at least in part, to arresting and deporting criminal illegals.
This is having the opposite effect the writer wants. I want mass deportations . All interlopers we call undocumented migrants are the worse of the worse.
Feel good story of the day.
If you’ve got an order to leave the country, or skipped your appointments, I imagine they don’t count that as a conviction.
“I imagine Anna was crying when she wrote this”
…that and breaking stuff, yelling “Trump is a Nazi” and other such bologna
Pick up the pace.
“the vast majority of people taken into custody had no criminal conviction”
Columbus is a deep blue city and also home to USU and this is a local MSM publication. Relying on a local college town publication for hard facts? Not so much. The illegals broke a federal law for being here in the first place, safe bet this fact was not included in their bias.
She’s their “government accountability reporter”...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The insidious part of this LIE is that while many criminal trespassers have not been caught and convicted of other crimes, we know sanctuary cities/states are releasing those arrested and dropping charges.
Lying with “statistics”. Note she’s very careful to specify convictions, thus leaving out all arrests and all of those who are awaiting trial. Her numbers, for example, would leave out murderers who are being held without bail until their case is heard.
I’ll bet it’s hard to type when her head was spinning like a top hurling pea soup.
If the illegals are illegal, that makes it 100%! Nice work ICE.
ICE also arrests the people (Illegal or not) that are harboring Illegals, and even arrests Illegals that are hanging around the felons that they’re after.
EVERY DAMN COUNTRY does the same, including countries with virtually no immigration or with mass immigration - overstay a visa in Japan and Europe and see what happens to you. Even African (fake) refugees are given legal status in Europe, so that they can be tracked (at least hypothetically).
...but I have to give this one to the media, as I suspect that 90% of Americans think that the ONLY job of ICE is to arrest violent felons who are here illegally.
