Why Trump fired Bondi and chose this moment for a Justice Department reset
Fox News ^ | April 3, 2026 7:00am EDT | Jonathan Turley

President Trump has always viewed terminations as a way to spur higher performance levels. Pam Bondi's ouster is the just the latest example

There is an old joke that scientists switched from lab rats to lawyers because you do not get as attached to lawyers. President Donald Trump has shown the same tendency to avoid becoming attached to either private or government counsel. Attorney General Pam Bondi is only the latest in a long line of lawyers let go by a president who was made famous with the tagline "You're fired."

There is no evidence of bad blood between President Trump and Bondi. The attorney general has been attacked over her loyalty to the president and has been by his side in some of the most precarious moments, from impeachment to criminal defense. As his "apprentices" learned, this is not personal. It's business.

Jeff Sessions. Rex Tillerson. Bill Barr. Mark Esper. Kristi Noem. Trump's Cabinet picks are known more for shelving than storage.

Indeed, being a Cabinet member in a Trump administration is about as secure as being a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.

Trump has always viewed terminations as a way to spur higher performance levels.

There is a reason why Trump may have wanted to move now in swapping out attorneys general. There are growing predictions that Republicans will lose the House and could also lose the Senate.

Democrats are running on pledges to unleash a new spasm of investigations and impeachments, targeting not just President Trump but anyone who supports him.

Figures like Susan Rice, top policy adviser to both Presidents Barack Obama and Joe...

I live in Hawaii, so my vote is a waste of time.
I still vote anyway, just so I can Bitch with a clean conscience.

I’m fairly well off and old so democrats can’t
damage me too much, God has watched over me,
My concern is what Democrats are doing to our
grand kids.

True and at that age during Carter I didn’t recognize how bad he was until it ran me out of the service. I’m too old to run and can’t do a fist or knife fight. That’s why I carry a gun. Here in Idaho, a lot of people do, less mischievous bs that way. Happy Easter and Godspeed.

I don't see how it can be legal to harass people merely for having been supportive of the President. Anyone making such a threat might need an audit of their own.

Another thought is that Trump thinks like a businessman. Consider Trump by setting up people in positions is not looking for an overall action to be finished. He is hiring a CEO. When Bondi took the job it may have been to accomplish a certain task she was well qualified for. She may have completed that task and now her work is finished. And the work Trump needs now is not within her scope of capacity. Let’s see who he replaces her with and what the task at hand is. This is common for CEO contracts.

“That’s why I carry a gun”
In Hawaii that is EXTREMELY illegal!
They’d rather old people get
victimized, killed, raped or what ever
than one of the local crooks being shot.

Doesn’t mean we old farts
follow the law.
What is the threat, take away our birthdays,
lock us up and feed us, free medical?
I’m old and retired. I’m not to go easy.
I DGAF about your anti gun laws.
If DGAF isn’t clear, personal email me.
Censors here are way too Karen.

Democrats are willing to slash and burn because the bureaucracy including judges will cover for them. Trump is willing to mix it up because he has resources to fight back. The republican administration employees have to be more circumspect because they are more vulnerable. I think Trump views this as disloyalty.

Makes sense to me, if Brennan, Wray, Clapper, Comey etc. (the list is long) were on trial or in prison like they should be, a statue of Bondi might be in order. (JK on the statue)
