The heads of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank said on Wednesday they would form a joint coordination group to strengthen their response to the severe economic and energy fallout from the war in the Middle East, according to Reuters.
In a joint statement, the three institutions said the conflict had caused major disruption across the region and triggered one of the largest supply shortages in the history of global energy markets.
“At these times of high uncertainty, it is paramount that our institutions join forces to monitor developments, align analysis, and coordinate support to policymakers to navigate this crisis,” the heads of the IMF, IEA and World Bank said.
The new coordination group will assess the severity of the impact across countries, coordinate response mechanisms and mobilise stakeholders to provide support to countries in need.
They said the response could include targeted policy advice, assessments of potential financing needs and related financial support, including low- or zero-interest financing, as well as other risk-mitigation tools.

Another knowledgeable guy on Fox News said the US is developing a plan to reopen the Strait and we're going to control the Strait after this air war is over. A few days ago, Secretary Rubio said the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened "one way or another". Then last night in President Trump's speech, he said: "When this conflict is over, the strait will open up naturally." Well I have news for the President's speech writers--I don't think that's going to happen. It's going to take some military force supplied by the US and our allies to eliminate the drone threat from the IRGC and defend ships in the Strait. The Strait won't reopen by itself.
There is apparently no clear publicly-announced plan by the US and our allies in Europe and Asia to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and get oil supplies flowing through the Strait. The oil market and oil traders need to hear a plan for when and how the Strait of Hormuz will be re-opened, otherwise oil prices will continue to rise and gasoline prices will be heading for $5 per gallon in May. The Administration needs to stop the conflicting statements by different people and provide the world with a clear plan for how the Strait will be reopened. Otherwise oil prices will keep rising and the global economy will probably go into recession in the 2nd quarter. Qatar produces about a third of the world's helium supplies, which are essential for semiconductor manufacturing. Production from Qatar is now disrupted and the semiconductor industry is facing a helium shortage soon, which may lead to production cuts this month.
If it's still too dangerous to send our sailors near the Strait of Hormuz (because of the IRGC drone threat), then the White House should say that and say approximately when the US Navy and our allies will be able to reopen the Strait. If other countries will help us, then talk about when a coalition can get this job done.
The oil market needs clarity on when this large supply disruption will end, otherwise we're going to see higher oil prices and probably a global recession in the 2nd quarter.
Gas prices dropping to historic lows in the US hurts our oil industry...unless you eliminate a competitor and get those customers to buy from our oil industry. Gangster. Love it.
What allies? The gulf states? They are all cowards. Europe? Please...they are good-for-nothing socialists aligned with our treasonous Democrats.
Well, almost all the NATO countries sent troops to Afghanistan. They’ll send some ships to the Persian Gulf, eventually, after they repair them and get them operational.
These three globalist agencies are not working to help the United States in this cause. They are working to protect and preserve the globalist world order, in particular the maritime commerce world order.
Make sure the “war room” is well stocked with hors d’oeuvres, caviar, champagne, servants and chefs.
They sent troops with various limited rules of engagement. Some cannot be in war zones, others can only available during daylights, yet another only wanted to be in certain areas...
The U.S. conflict with Afghanistan was the only time Article V of the North Atlantic Treaty was invoked. That’s the only reason any of these NATO countries would have any formal obligation to send troops there.
Yeah, when the shooting stops. Then they will rush in to grab their slices of the oil pie, meaning money in the billions.
