Trump Says US Pulling Out of NATO on Table Amid Lack of Support — The Daily Telegraph

Donald Trump admitted to never having been a huge fan of the alliance

LONDON, April 1. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has stated that he is considering pulling out of NATO over the lack of support shown by the alliance during the US operation against Iran.

"I was never swayed by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin knows that too, by the way," he told the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph in an interview.

Trump confirmed that he will re-evaluate whether the US should stay a member of NATO once the Iran war is over. "Oh yes, I would say [it’s] beyond reconsideration," the US president reaffirmed.

Addressing NATO’s refusal to support the US in strikes on Iran, Trump said he was surprised that the alliance didn’t automatically support Washington. "Beyond not being there, it was actually hard to believe [that NATO forces were absent]. And I didn’t do a big sale. I just said, ‘Hey’, you know, I didn’t insist too much. I just think it should be automatic," Trump stated. "We’ve been there automatically, including Ukraine. Ukraine wasn’t our problem. It was a test, and we were there for them, and we would always have been there for them. They weren’t there for us," he remarked.

Earlier, Trump repeatedly lashed out at NATO over allies’ refusal to support the US-Israeli operation against Iran. On March 31, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News that the United States will re-examine NATO’s value to Washington after the military operation against Iran ends.

The US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28. Major Iranian cities, including Tehran, were hit. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and US military facilities in Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

If they want oil from the Persian Gulf, they will have to secure it themselves.

Absolutely! 100%. Both are just parasites. Without the U.S. they are mostly impotent. Only a few of the countries are actually “allies”.

What we are witnessing is the effect of leftists and radical Islam in Europe.
They are clinging to power by opposing Trump and Israel.

Not allowing overflights and use of our own bases was unprecedented and outrageous.

Europe have always been the smug fools that plunge the world into chaos and then sit around saying Americans don’t understand anything.

NATO was formed in the shadow of a huge Soviet threat on the doorstep of Western Europe, which was virtually played out at the time. Since that threat no longer exists, the rationale for NATO has no longer existed for thirty years. No reason to continue the money pit when it yields us nothing. Bilateral agreements with willing nations re: airbases, port facilities etc, should of course go forward.

Trump Says US Pulling Out of NATO on Table Amid Lack of Support — The Daily Telegraph

Welcome to nuclear proliferation.

Poland’s bid to participate in NATO nuclear sharing

On 30 June 2023, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki declared Poland’s interest in hosting nuclear weapons under NATO’s nuclear-sharing policy, citing the reported deployment of Russian nuclear weapons to its Kaliningrad region and to Belarus. Soon after, the head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, Jacek Siewiera, said Poland was interested in certifying its F-35A Lightning II aircraft (due to be deployed in 2024–25) to deliver B61 free-fall nuclear bombs, in preparation for possible inclusion in NATO’s arsenal of dual-capable aircraft.

Nato needs the US a lot more than we need them. The US would be just fine on its own. But I don’t actually believe we’ll go through with it, it’s just a bluff by Trump to put a little scare into the Europeans.

You say Russia is no threat as if it is fact, wrong they are and are demonstrating it. But that does not mean we should stay in NATO or the UN. I want out of both.
The US is only trying end the war with Iran which started in the 70’s but Europe will never see it that way. As such they assume they have the right not to support us because they see it as we attacked Iran. And because they have depended on us they have no military to support our effort or defend their oil tankers.

Israel is not a NATO member. I don’t even think NATO should exist anymore, but I’m scratching my head trying to figure out why anyone would expect NATO to support a stupid military campaign against Iran carried out by the U.S. and Israel.
