The Paramount+ 'Star Trek' show will end after its already filmed second season.
So much for Paramount+‘s Gen Z Star Trek show.
The streamer has decided to end Star Trek: Starfleet Academy after season two.
Starfleet Academy had recently finished airing its debut season. Paramount+ had (rather optimistically, as it turned out) already ordered a second season, which recently wrapped production.
Starfleet Academy has been a polarizing entry in the Trek canon. Many critics have celebrated the show for focusing on a younger generation and its coming-of-age themes. On social media, the show has been a frequent target of mockery from those who claim the show is too “woke.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show had an 87 percent positive critics score, but a dismal 51 percent audience score.
The show also never managed to chart among Nielsen’s weekly top 10 streaming lists for viewership.
The news comes at a time when there are no longer any Star Trek TV shows in production, though there are two previously filmed seasons of Strange New Worlds that have yet to air.

Both Paul Giamatti and Holly Hunter will bury this deep on their respective resumes.
I tried to watch the first one and it was so bad I had to shut it down
Whoever thought that this was a good idea should be fired.
It has a gay Klingon that who wears a skirt and enjoys birdwatching. I’m not joking.
Those musta been YUGE checks!
Any business knows to cut its losses, but to film and not even show it shows there’s something else going on. Surely they could make some money back by going online.
There’s something else going on with this.
It’s dead, Jim.
Huzzah!!!
Every now and then you make a rotten apple... Or is it a rotten tomato?
I heard or read somewhere that the character wouldn’t eat anything that didn’t fight for its life. …Not that _he_ was doing any of the fighting or life-taking for his dinner, mind you… Just the critter he was eatin’.
Makes the Next generation look like a John Wayne movie. Worthless crap.
Of course they used rotten tomato’s. The Metacritic user score was something like 11%. Yes the v game industry has been hit hard too. The losses are well into the hundreds of millions all because they brought the woke mob into the dev rooms.
If they want to create something, albeit crappy, for younger generations, call it something else with its own story, history and characters. Don’t scam people by using a name and brand that they are already big fans of on some new rotten show, and then attack the original fans for hating it. If it was that good, the younger generations would have kept it alive regardless of what it was called. The Orville did it successfully.
YouTuber Disparu’s reviews of each episode were more popular than the show...
It was an horrendous abomination.
Completely out of place within the Star Trek genre.
Poorly written.
Poorly acted.
All in all a gigantic woke sack of sh*t.
Awful series.
See Civilization VII.
Not necessarily “woke” but just weird, strange and bad..
Trash
See Civilization VII.
Not necessarily “woke” but just weird, strange and bad..
This whole offshoot from Discovery is out of place with the genre. This is supposed to be the federation in 1,000 years?
