Apparently, because it was a front end collision, the two pilots were killed and no one else. However, plane pretty smashed up and lots of passengers injured.

This is a failure by many entities but I blame it traffic control the most.
It’s so sad to see this happen. In low visibility situations the vehicle needing to cross an active runway must ask the ATC for any approaching aircraft and their distance. MAYBE that will key the ATC to actually look at the distance before authoring the vehicle crossing. The desperation in the voice of the ATC is painful to listen to knowing there is nothing that can erase this type of mistake.
And yet the media will blame it on Trump. Just watch.
ANY vehicle must get permission to cross an active runway REGARDLESS of the visibility.
“Another source said a preliminary review by emergency responders shows the plane had received clearance to land, and the truck also had clearance to cross the runway. The NTSB is currently investigating.
The two sources said the plane struck the middle of the truck — causing the officers seated up front to be thrown from the truck — but enabling them to survive. The nose was low, so the pilots caught the full force of the impact.”
I’m hearing they Both received clearance.
I posted the info above.
If true, then that is a total ATC screwup!
Prayers up for all! Passengers, crew, airport staff, all families!
So heartbreaking ❤️🩹!
Chuck Schumer caused this to happen.
Airport Fire Trucks have to get permission to pull onto the station ramp around here, much less cross a runway.
Man, how fast was the truck going to cause that much damage?
My point was in low visibility if the Fire Truck did look to its right before crossing and did not see the aircraft landing they put their total trust in ATC. The trust but verify during a runway crossing in a low visibility situation should not even be an issue with today’s technology. I’d hate to be the controller who has to live with this on his conscience.
I know it has been posted about the accident. However, this is a 2 minute video of the actual conversation and what the controller was seeing.
FIRE TRUCK === TOTALLY JUNK
The truck was going perpendicular to the plane and maybe not fast at all. Not an expert, but it was how fast the plane was going and how heavy the truck was.
That’s a great point. From what I’ve read, the air traffic controller screwed up. I could very well be wrong.
