Report: US rejected Russian offer to halt Iran intel sharing for Ukraine data

Russia proposed a deal to the US under which Moscow would halt intelligence sharing with Iran if Washington stopped providing intelligence to Ukraine about Russian military activity, according to a report on Friday by Politico.

Two individuals familiar with the discussions told Politico that the proposal was presented by Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev during a meeting last week in Miami with Trump administration envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

According to the report, the arrangement would have required the Kremlin to stop providing Tehran with intelligence such as the precise coordinates of US military assets in the Middle East. In return, the US would end its intelligence sharing with Ukraine regarding Russian forces.

The individuals said Washington rejected the proposal. They and other officials cited in the report were granted anonymity due to the sensitivity of the talks.

Too little , too late.

I'm was favor of Trump cutting off intel to Ukraine but not anymore. Trump should keep it up on general principles.

Good and evil are not the same thing.

Here is what Victor Davis Hanson just put out.

Why 2026 Could Be the Most Dangerous and Transformational Year Since World War II | VDH
https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4371564/posts

“And then we have the Ukraine war, and he has convinced the Europeans that you have to do two things that they don’t understand. You can’t buy energy from Russia. Maybe he’s lifted that because the Straits of Hormuz are closed temporarily. You can’t subsidize the Russian war machine and then tell the United States that because of your suicidal energy policies, you have to do that, but you also have to have the United States step in and save you. And so, we’re trying to find a solution. But one of the tactics that Trump is using that’s very misunderstood. He’s trying to say Putin is a monster. Of course he is. Don’t trust him. But I wasn’t the one that started this crazy reset. I was the one that got rid of the Wagner group. I was the one that went after the oligarchs. I was the one that got out of the missile treaty. I was the one that gave offensive weapons to Ukraine. Not you. I was the one that warned you about the Nord Stream pipeline. Not you, not Biden. I did. So here, if I’m going to get involved, don’t demonize him because we can weaken him, and then we can flip him so that he doesn’t go back into Europe, but he also triangulates against China.”

It’s no trade, at all.

The Iranians can’t effectively use targeting info anymore.

The Russians would just cheat and send the information anyway.

It’s a meaningless offer.

That wasn’t an offer.

It was an act of desperation.

Only a Democrat like Obama would fall for such a bad deal.

“according to a report ... by ... Two individuals familiar with”

so, are these the SAME two in all of the anonymous sourced articles, or are these a DIFFERENT two?

Either side cutting off intel supply would be pretty much pointless anyway. Anything cleared/downgraded enough for release to Iran (on their side) or Ukraine (on our side) is on par with the quality produced by *commercial* privately-owned photo and video recon satellites that literally anyone can buy time on and there are *lots* of those all hovering over the areas.

Russia is in dire straits. Iran is in desperation mode.

Ukraine can do unto them both, what they’ve been doing to Ukraine.

Trump can point to both and declare them the cause of the things that ail the world the most. And then turn both against each other. Ukraine certainly won’t hesitate to tell on Russia, and Iran by now, should know that Russia isn’t a friend they can count on.

Only a Democrat like Obama would fall for such a bad deal.

"We" have been giving Obama too much credit for decisions and deals, when he was just another Biden (Obama was Biden with a functioning brain, but still absent). Just like with Biden, there were always 'other' people doing the thinking and making the decisions for Obama; he just read the speeches and memorized the talking points, so he could pretend he was in charge.

That was someone’s transcript, try this one.

“And then we have the Ukraine war, and he has convinced the Europeans that you have to do two things that they don’t understand. You can’t buy energy from Russia. Maybe he’s lifted that because the Straits of Hormuz are closed temporarily. But you can’t subsidize the Russian war machine and then tell the United States that because of your suicidal energy policies, you have to do that. And so, we’re trying to find a solution, but one of the tactics that Trump is using, that’s very misunderstood. He is trying to say [Vladimir] Putin is a monster. Of course, he is. Don’t trust him. But I wasn’t the one that started this crazy reset. I was the one that got rid of the Wagner Group. I was the one that went after the oligarchs. I was the one that got out of the missile treaty. I was the one that gave offensive weapons to Ukraine, not you.

I was the one that warned you about the Nord Stream pipeline, not you, not [Joe] Biden. I did. So here, if I’m going to get involved, don’t demonize him, because we can weaken him and then we can flip him so that he doesn’t go back into Europe, but he also triangulates against China.”

One big difference is that when we talk about the world’s second best military invading the country literally on its border, we are in the fifth year of Ukraine’s resistance, I don’t think Iran with Russia’s help will be able to pull that off.

Either side cutting off intel supply would be pretty much pointless anyway.

Sounds like the 'popular' thing to say to the anti-Ukraine side... but...

whatever intelligence Ukraine is getting and no matter from who, is being used to destroy the Russian troops on the ground and to destroy Russian assets in Russia and in Ukraine. Also remember that, Ukraine still has spied in Russia and that they used to be part of Russia, so, they know a lot more about Russia and Russian targets, than Russia knows about Ukraine. Now with Starlink gone and most communications means hampered by the Russians themselves, they are in desperation mode. Now they're asking Trump to 'pretty please, help us and we won't help Iran'.

One big difference is that when we talk about the world’s second best military

Russia is no longer a world power, militarily. It might've been second best before 2022, but now, it's likely 4th or 5th best. If you want to give them credit for their nukes arsenal, fine, but otherwise, it's not second best anymore; many would say it was never second best.

This is year five and the killing of Russians and the destroying of their military equipment on the battlefield is extraordinary, Ukraine is obviously capitalizing and putting to effective use every bit of hardware, ammo, aid and intelligence that we and others supply them with.

If only all of our aid to foreign armies we sided with in wars was so well rewarded.
